Default Need some advice hybrid heads

well heres the deal i just got done instating a 2.5 turbo block into my 02 wrx using 2.0 heads that where only shaved and cleaned aka hybrid.. after puting the car back together it runs good just needs a tune reallly bad. when i spoke to my tunner he had said that the 2.0 heads cumbushgin chambers need to be ported due to to much compression? well i dont plan on going nuts on the car the biggest turbo ill run is a 18g.. should i pull the motor to port the heads or well it be ok? thanks

Please fill out your profile and post in the correct forum

And you're running a 2.5 with the tune for your 2.0?
The heads don't NEED to be ported, but it's not a bad idea.

You'll be fine, porting won't really help the compression issues anyway, its boring out the cylinder tops of the heads... porting helps flow. You might want find someone who can actually tune a hybrid or learn yourself man.

What head gaskets are you using and which block? If it's an STI block with the OEM head gaskets, your compression will be too high to run a decent amount of boost over stock. If it's a 06-07 WRX block with stock head gaskets your compression is fine. The WRX pistons are dished more than the STI ones. That's the only difference in the two blocks. If it is a STI block, you could get thicker head gaskets and be fine. Here's a chart that helped me when I started researching for my project.
