Looks like a cross between the Celica and the new Z. Good looking car. Very nice price to boot!

people in america play too much Gran Turismo 3 and forget that there are cars in the Skyline range that are (*gasp*) NOT the GTR!!

i know it sounds nuts!!! but you can actually buy RWD Skylines... Non-turbo Skylines... Automatic Skylines... Sedan Skylines... yes! it's true!!

the G35 sedan which *just* came out a bit ago is a RWD sedan that is sold as the "Nissan Skyline" in japan. they even sell it with a 2.0 I4 IIRC!!!

the new G35 Coupe will be sold as a Skyline as well... i have no idea on trim designation though... as the GTR is going to be it's own car now... that is.... the 'nissan GTR' vs. the 'nissan skyline GTR' ... without the GTR skyline ... i doubt that they will keep using the GT-T and GT-S trims...

the G35 / G35 Coupe / new GTR (supposedly) / Nissan Z all share the same platform and engine. all look to be very entertaining and tunable cars especially with platform parity across such a group of cars likely to appeal to the enthusiast driver.

i'd buy one... oh wait... it's alaska... and it's RWD... maybe not...

Yeh I heard the same exact thing, that the G35 was the Our Skyline. But I think AWD and Turbo's only come on the various GT-R versions. Correct me if I am wrong.

oh yeah! and you can get a Skyline wagon too. i forgot about that one.

i think it was called the 'Stagea' ... the old R34 one was pretty cool... you could even get the full-on GTR kit IIRC ... twin-turbo RB26 engine and the AWD.

the new version based on the current G35/Skyline looks pretty nice too... almost *exactly* like a Volvo V70 (only with a G35 front-end)... comes with either the VQ series 3.5L V6 and the older 2.5L turbo engine from the *lesser* Skyline coupes/sedans.

very cool.

Skylines come in the following models:

GTE (4 cylinder)
GTS (standard v6)
GTS-t (single turbo)
GTS-4 (AWD)
GTR (twin turbo AWD)

G35 or R35 in Japan is the body style like our GD8 or GCA.

Look at this bad boy, an R34 Skyline :

Like everyone has said the Skyline GTR is just based off the Skyline(pictured above). Just like the EVO is based off the Lancer.

With the R35, they are seperating the names Skyline and GTR like 010111 said. However, Nissan is getting smart and starting to base their different size cars off universal chassis. So, while the R35 Skyline and GTR will be seperate lines, they will both be based off the XVL concept chassis. In fact, the Skyline/G35, GTR, 350Z, Altima, and the next Maxima are all based off the XVL chassis. Finally Nissan is getting smart, rather than designing different chassis for every car, just base them all off universal platforms. Should help their financial situation.

Hehehehe...... I bet GM loves Nissan's financial situation. What better then for a fellow car company to be in the red, it makes buying 51+% of them so much easier. I believe GM owns 20-35% of Nissan ATM. Can't remember though.

Eby,

You're such a nerd! I think I learned that too in my Microeconomics class. Something about the Just-In-Time productivity method.

Unfortunately, we do not take trade-ins to offset the cost of purchasing a
Skyline.

Thanks.
