Exclamation Anyone else from the New Orleans Area?

Just wondering if the other people in the area look at this part of the forum. I did a search and it doesn't look like anybody from my area passes through here very much.

I know some of you are out there. I have met some of you at the SCCA driving school.

What up?

Thumbs up

I'm not from there, but I'd like to be.

I think some of the Alabama/West Florida people may be the closest.

Maybe we should bring a meet to you?

I have a lot of family in the New Orleans area. Some live in Metarie and others live on the other side of the lake in Covington and Mandeville. I will be heading out there in my rex for Memorial Day weekend at the end of May if you want to organize some kind of Subaru meet or something. But I think I read somewhere that Louisiana was 49th in subaru sales in the country so I dont know if there is that many of you guys out there.

Hey Matt and Ryan,

Thanks for the replies.

Matt, I would love for ya'll to bring a meet here, as I have never been to one.

Ryan, tell your family to buy some Subis! j/k But seriously, if you come out here for May 26, there is an Import Face Off and drag race, car show, etc. in Baton Rouge. The guy who tinted my windows is going to be a sponsor and will have an area for all the Subis/WRXs to park.(He owns a blaze yellow sedan and is an MRT dealer)

I have met other WRX owners around but I guess they aren't all on i-club yet.

Maybe I can come to some of your events. It looks like ya'll have a lot of fun over there.

Cool.

How far is it to Jacksonville, FL from NO? Maybe you could come out for a meet.

I'll keep you posted on a visit. I've always wanted to come over to your town. Just not during Mardi Gras.

I know that it is about 3-4 hours to Destin from NO. So maybe you can extrapolate for me, if you have ever driven to Destin that is.

I would love to come some time (or have you guys come here) to one of those meets. It seems that you guys have a lot of fun over in this forum. I wish I lived closer.

Nevertheless, if you get over this way give me a shout and also let me know if I can come crash one of your partys with my stealthy, black wagon.

PS: No Mardi Gras? You don't like hundreds of drunken tourists and locals completely surrounding/spilling/hitting.... you?

Well...I've put 37k on my RS in a year...I'm sure a trip to your neck of the woods wouldn't hurt.

I'll let you know when I'm headed up.

A trip to Jax would probably be an entire day for you in the car.

Also, don't worry about an invitation, you're welcome to show up anytime. The Orlando meets are pretty big because of its central location and Jacksonville is growing. Also, remember Birmingham, AL too. They've got a good group that's growing too. That may be your closest bet, and they do trackdays too.

Birmingham?... Subarus??.....

Well Birmingham is 6-8 hrs as I recall, Jax must be a loooonngg trip.

Thanks for the help Matt, I hope to meet ya'll some time. If you or anybody else out there heads my way, let me know.

Maybe I can start a Subi group over here. It would be cool to show up places with a bunch of other Subis. I really want to check out some other cars that have been modded.

PS: Track-days? Is that like an SCCA type event?

Not sure about the SCCA thing. Most driving school/track events are not SCCA sanctioned but they're usually put on by private companies.

Dussander has some good information about it. You may want to PM him. I think he had a hand in putting together the last track event in Alabama.
