Question South or Central Florida Tracks, or Off-Roads? Plus a cop story

Hello everyone.... Well, tonight I had a bit of a wake up call. I decided to take a turn at about 40+ Maybe more... Anyway, The car took it very well, however I over compensated a bit, and swerved. Was a little embarrassing, but nothing happened to the car, or any others who were around.... yeah, I know.... DUMB and lucky. Anyway, I drive about 1-2 miles down the road, at a slower than normal speed, cuz I'm a bit stunned as to how stupid I was to try that stunt, and I get the Red and Blue lights. What comes out of my mouth??? "Did I do anything wrong?" DOHH! THe cop was like, "Do you normally drive like that???" Kind of mad at me.... which is acceptable. Anyway, I hand him all my paperwork, plus my City of Ft. Lauderdale ID card (Which has saved my ass a few times). He questions me about a few things, "How's your license?" and I say "Wha?". "Has it ever been suspended, or anything?" And I so, "OH, no.... no tickets either." He looks shocked and says "And it's not the time to start either is it???" Blah, blah, blah.... Anyway, he asks for my home phone number, and goes back to his car. I'm thinking.... Ok he's just running my numbers and plates, going to come back with either, a ticket(s) or a warning. He comes back and says, "Well, I just spoke with your mother "OH ****!," I'm thinking. "And I could give you two tickets right now, but I've decided not too... so talking to your parents is better than getting two tickets, right?" And I'm like.... "Well, maybe not!" Oh well.......... Lucky for me, all my parents did was sit down with me and have a nice discussion as to what NOT to do when you're driving.

Now, the brunt of my question is.... are there any tracks, or legal off-roads anywhere in South or Central Florida, where I can rid my system of all my driving urges???? I really don't want to be driving like that again in suburbia

Oh well....... pass one off to the luck goddess.

Sorry if some of my sentences did not make sense.

How old are u? Under 18? I wouldn't think he should be able to do that if you're an adult.

blue,

i think i met up with you one time in daytona, right? boy, was
that a night not too rmember...can you say the shark lounge?

anyway, i think it was buttsy on this forum that posted some
pics of a sweet dirt road area off of 192, heading west from
brevard...he said it was about 15-20 miles west. if you search
back on his posts, you might find it.

i know another guy w/ a blue wrx that took his car out to the
sarno flats, but he also popped a tire

the best option is the autocross they do like once a month in
palm bay. there is one sunday, but i can't make it, unfortunately.

Talking ----> Me <---- Adult

No, I'm not under 18, I'm 21 actually. And the only reason he called my parents, well the two reasons, was 1) because I'm a City of Ft. Lauderdale Employee, and 2) because he saw that the car was registered to to my parents, as well as the insurance, which led him to believe that I still lived with my parents, which I do, because I'm still going to school.

STItuner, I wish I could take off for the Dragon.... however my work does not allow me to take many days off, and I already took off for the I-club meet in Tampa.

AndyWRX, YEAH, that was me! That was a really fun ride up there. And Daytona was CRAZY.... I've never been there while bike week was going on..... *long slow whistle*

Anyway, I'll check out that dirt road you were talking about. However, I've decided that sometime within the next month I'm going to drive near the Gainesville area and do the "Ivor Wigham's European Rally and Performance Driving School" I'll do the 3 to 1 ratio, which costs $625 and is a 10 hour course, which I'll get 2 hours seat time. I can't wait.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm from the Orlando area. I just drove this past weekend on the Sebring Track. It was a Panoz Driving School. I had 2 1/2 hours of track time for $ 325.00. It was great. I hit top speeds of 115-120. It was well worth the money.

Default Sebring?

scoobiblue, do you have any contact info or a webpage for the Sebring track or the Panzo Driving school? For half the price, I'd like to at least check into it.... although, I think when you say track, you're talking about like an OVAL, right? I'm more interested in the "Rally" type school. I wanna know how to drift, e-brake handling, everything I can get my hands on! Plus, I don't have to worry about flugging my car up, cuz you use theirs.

But some info on them, ie: Website, or telephone number would be much appreciated.

Thumbs up

Also take a look at www.chinmotorsports.com . They put on an excellent event at Homestead today for about $250/car.

Go to www.panozracingschool.com to see the different schools they offer. The Track Days event allows you to use your car.

Blue:
consider yourself pretty lucky with the cop too. i got 2 tickets in the past 3 months, one for speeding (which i've gone much much slower since then), and the other like 3 days ago for making an illegal left turn. it was my one year anniversary with my girl and i was taking her to south beach when i got lost and made an illegal left turn (btw i had no idea it was illegal) trying to get going in the right direction, and the cop was right there waiting for me. i pleaded with him to give me a warning so i wouldn't get points, he wasn't having it. i wish he would have called my parents (i still live at home too)!
oh yeah, and a white van did the same thing i did right behind me, and the cop decided to just pull me over and let the van go. i'm still pissed.

Default I do....

Yeah, DarkRex.... I do consider myself extremely lucky that I was not cited, and that only my parents were called. I still find it very strange and amusing, that he did call the parents of a 21 year old male........ Maybe he likes Subaru's??? No, I think what REALLY saved my skin, was the fact that I work for the city. Any other city I would have done that in, you could put money down on the fact that I would have gotten those tickets.

That does really suck though, that he let the other guy get away with it...... DISCRIMINATION!!! SUBIE HATER!

Sorry about your tickets. The only suggestion I can give you is, get a job with every city you can!
