Default The dom3 that lasted 2500 miles!!!

well we installed a dom3 on a built 06 WRX and we had problems getting it to break past 300hp. I posted awhile back about the car not being able to be tuned and so we ran every test that was possible and so we let the car go not knowing that one week later it would return with the tubo howling. i pulled the turbo and checked to see it the poor thing was starved for oil, and it was getting plunty. now the question i have is what would cause a turbo so young to go so bad. leaving lack of oil and over boosting out of the equation( the tune was a safe tune with a 6k rev limit)... have fun and feel free to leave links please...

Was the turbo primed before starting the motor? If you don't prime it (ie crank the engine for at least 3 times for 20 seconds) you will toast the oil seals right away. Ask me how I know this XD

who is your tuner installer?

I had my car professionally installed with a brand new jet hot coated Dom 4 turbo by Innovative Tuning and they have zero problems with my car its in the break in period

Oil starvation was probably not an issue, as there was oil in the cartridge under the restrictor.

The turbo ran for over 1000 miles before the turbo started making nasty noises. The engine has several oil changes during break-in, and has showed no signs of any issue to date.

The car only made about 265 whp on GSTs mustang dyno, where this setup is usually good for at least 320. After ruling out boost and exhaust leaks, and an engine issue, we were speculating that bad gas was the cause, until the turbo decided to die.

I have heard of alot of the Dom series turbos doing similar things just go rotated and get a real turbo garrett series etc.

^^ Not very helpful, as this car belongs to neither of us, but thanks.

I agree as I will be going rotated personally, but a lot of people want the power level achieved with a 30r turbo, while retaining a stock appearance in the engine bay. Bring your rotated setup out to Cali and you will understand...especially in the Bay Area.

NP dude, this forum has a lot of jaded folks...and people who just troll around looking for someone to **** on.

Not to say that any of the about comments were from these types, but they are out there.

Haha, I had to laugh though...YOU hate to get detailed?? Maybe on a message board, but sure as hell not in person lol.
