04 Shell with JDM STi 5 spd, Stock 2.0 or STi 2.5?

I currently have a WRX shell Im slowly piecing together and as of now it has a JDM STi 5 speed. I was looking for engines to put in and I was wondering how hard it would be to throw in a 06 US STi engine if I also had the wiring harness and ecu? What all would I need to change such as Cluster and all that good stuff?

Do you guys think its worth the effort to go with that instead of the stock 2.0?

Also after search a little I found that a hybrid set up is also an option any thoughts there?

My swap is nearing completion and the difference in power between my tuned 2.0 and the untuned STI engine is staggering. With the same VF34 it's night and day. I vote for STI engine.

how about a 2.0 top end and a 2.5 block ... no wiring required..

People were saying that doing that give the car a wierd power band I guess

You should ask those people if they've ever driven that setup. A local member here runs a EJ257 shortblock on his '02 WRX. Compression is around 8.6:1 with that piston/head combo. He runs a TD06H 18G-8cm and huge TMIC. Weird powerband??? Drives just fine. Great pick up, and power all the way up to 6500rpms with a 7000rpm rev limit.

I'mma be running a built 9.0:1CR 2.2 closed deck shortblock with ported '06 WRX heads. Weird??? hA! This setup is to be revved up to 8250rpms.

if any thing would be weird about it, it would be the tuning as the VE will be different with the higher compression ... --> it will need a custom tune by someone who knows what they are doing .
