Default OT: The Music Thread

I love starting new threads! woot.

Okay, so post everything and anything about music in here.
I think there may have been an old one, but oh well, too bads.

what kind of music do people like listening to?
anyone play instruments?
in a band? use to be in a band?

pour moi, the kind of music i listen to depends on my situation/mood i suppose.
i.e. at the gym vs in my car
in general, i like quite the variety i suppose. jazz, funk, old school r&b, blues, rock, some pop.....not mainstream **** on the radio though....

I played piano for 5-6years, i'm not that great anymore, i havn't played in like...8 or 9 years.

I played saxophone from grade7 to grade 9.

I was a lead singer in my highschool's r&b band. we got to travel all over the place to perform, best experience evarrr...
thus, why i'm obsessed with old school r&b music.
temptations, tower of power, marvin gaye, lou rawls, aretha, gladys knight, etc. etc.

do people find it amusing when you see people singing in their car?
I always sing in my car

music is nothing like it used to be.

i still listen to my old cd's way more than anything that has come out in the past 4ish years.

i hate any music that is made just to make money.

ever since the loss of pac and biggie, the hip hop scene hasn't seen very much heart.

i used to and still do listen to rap / r&b / hip hop. but i'm more open to other stuff now too. i appreciate talent, bottomline.

The Streets is hip hop, british but sung with a thick british accent. 1st, 2nd and latest album are very good, 3rd one is...meh.

Dodos, don't know how to describe it....indie....I really like it. If you have Itunes or whatever check it check it ooooouuuuuuuuttttt

Jeff's Fav Song :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zv8b6RPbnAc

haha J/k

I like bit of heavy stuff . . but not that heavy
Protest is about as heavy as I get for the most part
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEn8HmgJxd4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_rHJn4SLtA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WupES7LHZU

But in all honesty I like all music:
I was a music major all through school mainly focused around guitar and Drums
But the schooling taught me to have a respect for all music

I rarely find a song I don't enjoy

favorite band of all time since I was ten is The Doors.

I like a wide range of music styles from pop driven Gwen Stefani to Slayer's Angel of Death, Japenese Anime theme songs to 50's malt shop.

Favorite songs right now are Metric's "combat baby" and Paramore's " I caught myself "

I like these girls voices

been listening to them for years n years ... first song I heard was "Fit but you know it"

I'm a big country fan ... corb Lund, Ridley Bent, Dustin Bental ... all west coast canadian artists/songwriters too ...some might know ridley from his hip hop days though, both Ridley and Dustin are local artists. I worked at SOCAN for 4 years ... so like to support the Candians!
Played guitar for 13 years ... but haven't for about 5 ... can't sing, and never been in a band
