Default ATTN: Random Cat Owners

Hello there guys. This is just a "heads up" for a possible defect(?) on the Random high-flow cats. If you have bought yours and experiencing "rattling" noices, it can be this:
The top heat shield of the cat can come lose, one side only. It is welded on the cat on both sides (left & right) but the welds didn't seem to hold up for me. The left side welds came lose somehow and the car was rattling (cat) while in idle. There was one more incident of this by another member on this board. Anyone else has had this problem?

~Anthony.

p.s. by the way, i can weld it myself since i have a welding/fence shop

A lot of us have had this happen,,Random Tech told me they know about the problem with some of the earlier cats and have since put a heavier weld to hold them on better. They will fix any problems according to them..I just left mine off.

Yep. Went through the whole "where is the rattle comming from this time..." process. Low and behold, the heat sheild became unattached on the top of the cat on one side, as stated in the original post. I just removed it. However, it is my beleif that there is also an internal rattle that I hear under moderate to WOT. Perhaps all of those neat backfires are ruining the internals of the cat. Has anyone else had this problem?
