Thumbs up Carbone Subaru, Troy NY

A bit out of the way, set way back on a slow moving street, the dealership is worth the effort. Really great people to work with. Highly negotiable, willing to go the extra mile to get things done. They shorted me slightly on my trade (to be expected from a dealership I guess) but when I mentioned it they extended the warranty on my new WRX to compensate. They seemed to be straight shooters, I did my homework before going in. It was the third dealer I stopped at for the WRX I wanted and I got everything I was after except my first choice color. Still very satisfied. They didn't try to tack on a ton of extra crap I didn't need or want and didn't have a bunch of fluff filled "incentives" that are really just a rip off in disguise. They also remember me every time I'm back which I realize is just good business and customer service but in this day and age that seems a rare thing.

The only part about them I wasn't too happy about was I was promised a loaner whenever my car needed to go in, but whenever I bring my car in for maintenance I'm told they don't do loaners.

I just read that Automotive News, which is a trade "paper", picked Carbone Subaru as one of the top 100 "Best Dealerships to Work For in 2015" so I came here to search for customer opinions.
I was surprised to only see one review here, since the Albany, NY, area is pretty well populated. At least this one positive review means I can consider Carbone when I'm shopping for my next Subaru.
I've dealt with highway mega-dealers and with smaller off-the-highway dealerships like Carbone apparently is. The smaller dealers are generally more customer friendly since they can't rely on drive-by customers and need the positive referrals from repeat customers.
I'm 70 miles north of Carbone and have cars serviced at North Country Subaru in Queensbury. Very happy so far with service and parts department interactions at North Country. But when I'm shopping for the next Subaru, I'll see how Carbone's pricing compares with North Country's. I might even check "New Country Subaru" in Saratoga Springs, but that's a classic highway mega-dealer: next to the interstate and shopping malls and selling many brands of cars.

I ordered a 2016 WRX from Carbone and I can share a little bit about my experience with them. When I ordered it in June I was told to expect a delivery between 8-12 weeks. When August 1st rolled around I was told that my vehicle wasn't on the delivery schedule for the month of August, I was bummed but the dealer mentioned he could possibly get a dealer transfer if I would be OK with the car have a couple hundred miles on it for the travel.

I went ahead with the transfer option and in a couple of weeks I got a call that my car was ready for me to pick up. The car had the options, trim and color I ordered as well as a few extra options I didn't order (around $500-600 in extras) which they included in the negotiated price.

Overall I have been pleased with my experience with them and will be using them in the future.

I went to Carbone with a friend, both to preorder 2012 Impreza's.

I did quite a bit of research and was aware that SOA was offering a $500 accessory credit for preordered 2012 Impreza's.

Needless to say, they kept my friend and I there for about 2 hours dickering over the trade in values they would offer us, would not offer any special pricing for the pre-orders, even though we were buying two cars at the same time, and would not offer the incentive (that was an SOA offer, so it cost them nothing).

We drove across town to Goldstein, Subaru.

They offered us more for our trades, reduced cost under invoice (we pre-ordered and bought the 2012 Impreza Sport 5mt's for $20,500), and gave us the $500 accessory credit.

In this case, Carbone staff were nice, but ignorant, and it cost them the sale of three cars (cause we both bought our Impreza's at Goldstein, and I bought my WRX from them as well).

Carbone, "nice people to do business with", just dumb sometimes...

PS Goldstein has a state of the art facility now, drive in service bay, and nice waiting area. They will probably deliver your new car with overinflated tires, though...

don't get your car serviced there. I have an 07 and they treated me like sht there. car was there for 4 days for plugs and coils. the day I got it back I checked my tire pressure, which one of my tires was at 14 psi. they did a half asset job of diagnosing the actual issues and didn't even inspect the other worn out **** on the car.

I will never do business there again.
