Default Visiting Okanagan

Hello,
We just moved to Vancouver and now we are finally getting around to visiting the BC inland. Need some suggestions on Okanagan valley. Is Kelowna worth a visit? We are interested in the vineyards and orchards.
What would be a good time to visit?
Likely will stay in Peachland. But am open to suggestion.
Anyone tried agritourism.... staying in vineyards? We did in Tuscany and it was real fun.
that's all for now. Looking forward to great ideas. Pour it on meee!!!

Plenty of nice wineries to the south of you. If you head down to Oliver, that's kind of the hub of Wine Country. They are every block along Black Sage road, so you can cover a lot of wineries over not a large distance. Naramata also has a ton of wineries close together. Depending on how much you're planning to "taste" you might want to center yourself close to some of the main regions.

I live in kelowna, definitely worth a visit! Come in july or august, it's the busiest but the weather is great. My parents stayed in a cottage on a vineyard in naramata a couple years back and loved it. I work at a boat rental/watersports place so I could probably hook you up with a deal on a boat rental too if you're interested. Feel free to PM me with any kelowna questions!

thanks sandman21 for the tip. How far is Oliver say from Summerland or even Penticton? Any fruit orchards worth visiting? We are planning to visit OK in around June.

bcwrx02, Thanks! I will certainly consider taking that offer if we visit Kelowna. You're not referring to those Swan-like paddle boats are you?

OK so what is a good scenic route to take?
Some say to drive via Hope to Hwy1. Then round down to Kelowna, then return via Route 3. Make sense?

Davison's Orchard in Vernon is pretty good. Home made pies, fruit, gifts, tractor ride for the kids. There's the new golf course in Vernon too if you're into that.

There's a quaint little restaurant in Summerland called Zia's, the food is so so, but I absolutely love their caesar salads.

As for a good winery, check out Laughing Stock, there's a couple other smaller ones that have some really good wine (really the only decent BC wines) but I'll need to look them up. Oh and yes, Blue Mountain, fantastic brut and pinot noirs.

Penticton / Naramata. Osoyoos. Kelowna / Vernon (Kal Lake).

I could retire and live in any of the above.

if you are in summerland, go to summerland sweets. you won't regret it. amazing jams and they have a fruit winery too.

there is also a vineyard called Sonoran Estate Winery, they have amazing ice wine.

though the NkMip Stuff is also really good. like drinking apple pie!

and Thornhaven has the best view of any winery in the okanagan, by far.

i could sit on their patio all day long.

PM me when you guys are comin' down and I'll get you out on the water! And no, they aren't the swan-like paddle boats haha. We bring in brand new boats every year for our rental fleet.

As far as wineries go, there are a few around that offer lunch out on patios and terraces overlooking the wineries. My recommendation is Cedar Creek winery in the south end of Kelowna. My brother used to work there as an assistant chef, so I went up a couple times for lunch. The food was amazing, and they are pretty much right on the lake so you overlook the vineyard and okanagan lake. Doesn't get much better than that.
