Brian:
Do you have any idea what "Jealous Ones Envy" means...?
It sure as h*** doesn't mean what you stated.
Maybe in IL it means that but here in the NorthEast it means the opposite...
Jealous = People who are jealous (obvious), Ones = Own property or what they own, Envy = Envious of what you have (obvious)...Breaking it down any simpler would require me to have a license to teach grammar school.

Simple statement: People are jealous because of what TimCat ownes and are envious of not having one or something that looks like it or better.......

School session is over!

No offense but don't assume you have the answer if you are not sure what is being told or what is in question....

Yeah, the reactions there seem to be way off base. Maybe there are a lot of ricers there that piss people off...? Anyways, here where I'm at, I generally feel anonymous, until that occasional ricer passes by and does the obligatory fart rev to get my attention. Cracks me up. Seems it's almost instinctive to them sometimes. That said, there really aren't too many rice/imports around here...

I've had people take pictures of my car, rev they're engines, and even had people circling my car when I come out of stores. Most people like it, some people just don't get it. The most important thing is that I like it!

I like what Y2K4door was saying about his mudflaps on the first page. Maybe if you put some big freaking mudflaps on there and occasionally cruise around with mud left from a rallycross all over your car they will better understand the purpose for your car rather than confuse you with a ricer. If that doesn't work install a big set of rally lights and get a banner sticker that says something like Got All Wheel Drive or Subaru Auto-X or Rally-X.

Huh? Could you put that a little simpler, and dumb it down a couple notches? What you said is just what I understood it to mean. The typical response is that "You're just making fun because you're jealous." After lurking on the "rycecop" website/forum, that was the typical response of those who were being criticized. Not that I agree with the criticism (I actually like the looks of the "showy" cars, even if they have "no go"), except that some of those who were being criticised didn't respond any more intelligently or kindly than their critics. And I wasn't entirely serious when I said what I did. I just neglected to make that clear. I wasn't meaning to suggest that you are a "rycer", but just pointing out that your response is...well, it lacks something. Not that I have a better response. Rats! Now I'm rambling. Anyway, can I say I'm sorry if I offended you? I wasn't trying to make ya mad. I'll try to remember not to mention the "R" word again. My bad.

Brian

p.s. I didn't actually say anything about what that statement meant, I just assumed it meant a certain thing, which is exactly what you stated as I quoted it above. Then I went against my better judgment and made the silly statement "Typical..".

I got the 22b Wing very cheap and it may be pretty much useless unless you are going over 75 mph. I got it cause it reflects the WRC heritage of the car and makes it unique as when compared to a stock RS. And no, not kidding you. They are nice footpetals that match our interior. And believe me...an RS needs all the interior help it can get. As for the knob, it was a present and it also matches the car very well. The damn stock shifter stitches give my already abused hands blisters when I am doing alot of agressive shifting. And the bumper vents needed to be painted. They are an ugly ass orange color. The clear lights are also good on the RS cause you get rid of that hideous orange our cars are plagued with. How does a K&N air filter make a performance gain and a CAI makes "questionable gains"? The springs I also got a good deal on and they do lower the car but thats what I wanted. Stock RSs tend to be a lil top tipsy and this remedied this. And no I didnt get struts. I am getting coilovers soon. And yes the hood plate and hood vent removals are a mod. You obviously dont know what the word mod means. And my Quarts jam on these Jensen amps. I got the amps for free and they push the Quarts very nicely. As good if not better than my friends new JL Audio 75x4 amp he has his exact same Quarts on. Underdrive pulley sadly makes little difference but I will take what I can get. Who said I was building a race car? NEWBIE <-----alll in fun...

BryanW,

Ya the big wing does scream rice. You should paint your vents. It looks much nicer. Go to Ace and get some DEGLOSSER and let them soak in it over night. Then spray paint them with Semi-Flat black spray paint. Put about 5 to 6 coats on them though or they will chip like crazy. Gives the car a much cleaner look. Ya, my exhaust is a bit on the big side. But I plan on going turbo so I needed something of its size.

Oh well...

Cool

You can't account for peoples tastes...because they're all different! 2 days ago I was talking to someone at the local coffee shop and he said he loved my car. He also said that he liked it better than the new IS300 because the IS looked too "ricey".

Well, my car has alot of STi stuff on it (from brakes to suspension, bushings, seats, strut bars, etc.) but it has no TURBO and complete WRX STi badging (save the side ones).

Like I said... opinions and tastes are different everywhere. Some people think Suburbans are silly, some think 2 seat sports cars are silly and some think our cars are silly.

Oh well, I'm happy with my car and that's all that matters. Most cars are extensions of the drivers personality, but some of us (like me) don't quite fit into the current "mold" of the cars available to us. For this reason, we modify them to OUR liking... not someone elses.

-Mike.

I just typed (what I thought) was an excellent treatise on the term ricer, and how it is much like a racial epithet. (After all, look at it's roots.) Then I realized it would look like I was trolling for a flame-war because of my low number of posts.

So I'll just say this...

ONE MORE MONTH TILL I HAVE MY DOWN PAYMENT FOR MY WRX!!!

It's the wing. Big wings scream RICE RICE RICE RICE all freakin' day long. I don't care how original you think your STi VI or 22B or whatever wing is, the ONLY people who have big-ass wings like that are ricers.

Actually, I think you've got this one backwards. I want to paint my bumper vents too because it makes the car look LESS ricey, not more. The orange might as well be rice yellow.

The three biggest things that define a ricey car:

1. BIG SINGLE EXHAUST TIP
2. OVERSIZED WING (useful or not)
3. CLEAR LIGHTS (*******s love these, but I think they make a car look CHEAP!!)

My $.02.
