Default Need help regarding a ticket. Dont need lawyer!!

So i heard somewhere that if you get a ticket and overpay it that it would sit in pending and never be processed. I think it was because the government isnt allowed to accept donations. Well long story short i got $175 ticket and decided to give the over paying thing a try, so i wrote a check for $200 and sent it in. Well the grant county court cashed that check.

So i have two questions.
1. are they allowed to do that?
2. How can i get that extra $25 back?

From what I know they will cash it and then send you a check back and that's what you don't cash. I have ONLY HEARD that if you don't cash it they can't finish their paperwork because they still owe you money. Usually most people I have heard that have done this over pay it a dollar not 25. Once again this is all by hear say I have never attempted this so don't quote me on it. Good luck and lets see if it works.

If it were that easy don't you think everyone would be doing it, they would eventually catch on, and it wouldn't work anymore?

This is like the kind of thing highschoolers talk about in the hall in between classes.

Its not true.

I heard the best way to get out of a speeding ticket, is to not pay it. Ever. Eventually the ticket will be trumped by a warrant!

It would probably take you 25 dollars to go there and back in gas. Learn from what happened and move on mang. No use getting hot and heavy over 25 dollars. Ya its a bummer but hey you will get something better later on.

ok they will cash the check but will send you one in return for the over payment. it is that check that you dont cash and your ticket will just sit. I did this with my last ticket and it has never hit my record.

i assume so but so does your paycheck and they cannot close it until it is cashed. I am sure at some point they just write it off. However it has been over 7 years and no speeding ticket to hit my insurance.

I found some reading material on your topic if your bored.
"Don't ignore or overpay your speeding ticket. Hire a speeding ticket lawyer immediately to make sure your speeding ticket is properly resolved."

well i guess there is no need for this anymore, i checked the mail today and had a refund check from the grant county court district for $25, so i just put it through the paper shredder. Will let you know how it works out.
Kind of funny how everyone is giving me the "FAIL!" when it actually worked out in the end
