Question Heat Shielding?

Ok I could probably find the answer to this question easily if the search function was working but since it isn't and I'm going to the shop this afternoon I need to ask this now

Will removing the factory heat shielding under the car cause any serious problems? I'm sure someone has probably done this. I need to remove the heat shielding because I'm almost certain its causing the metallic pinging I hear when I accelerate briskly. I've got brullen headers/high flow cat, a custom 2.25" midpipe, and an mrt muffler. I keep getting a really annoying metallic sound when I accelerate and its pissing me off, sounds stupid. Ok so problems with removing the heat shielding? Thanks guys.

-Chad

Ping.. Pinga.. BOOM!

You might wanna make sure its not your engine detonating.
I guess what I really want to say is, Is the sound more of a clang then or rattle?

Its a rattle. Cant be detonation, its been going on for over a month, engine would have exploded by now I took the shielding off today and the noise went away, now I have a mean exhaust, not annoying

I had the same problem... make sure there aren't any pebbles stuck between the cat and the cat shielding...
