Question GFB 3 piece power pulley kit???

Ok, guys i have a question for ya. As you guys that are normally on the naturally aspired forum probably know me by my forum about my full exhaust, im here to ask for more assistance. I was doing some reading and i am thinking about this 3 piece pulley set from www.boxer4racing.com for 2007 2.5i. I was just wondering for other guys that have done this if there is a noticable increase in hp and torque. The website says 9-12 hp and even more on a modded vehicle...... so with my intake and full exhaust would that make that flucuate much higher? Basically what i am wanting to know is if it is worth 330 dollars??? and how hard are they to install?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

MAYBE 9-12hp in 1st gear. Actual returns will be less in higher gears.
Personally, I see a lightweight pulley as more of a drivability mod rather than power. It makes rev-matching noticeably easier.

So if i were to do this, the 3 piece set is useless, just buy the underdrive pulley?

No, NOT underdrive, just buy the light weight crank pulley. It's all you'll really need.

of course they'll make a difference, but it may be so small as to not be noticable. I have an unorthodox underdrive LW pulley and it's great. The headlights dim ever so slightly at stoplights, and I can tell that the cabin fan is a little slower at idle, but once you get above ~1200 rpms, it's normal. Your call. It all depends on what you want to do w/the car.

You must have an underdriven pulley then. My Agency Power pulley doesn't give me dimmed lights or a slow fan.

Have a look at GroupA's site, dig into technical docs and find out all about Power steering spline issues. Aside from that, keep searching this site to find the thread that gives you all the math needed to determine how much gain you'll see at the wheels. Its here somewhere. Pretty negligible and wish I'd spent my $100 on something else.

Somewhere this year, I've posted the numbers for how much the different pullies gain you. You can look it up if you really care.

Cliff's Notes: LW Crank Pulley (NOT UNDERDRIVEN) makes a bit of difference in 1st and in rev matching. All the other LW pullies put together aren't even a meaningful fraction of what the Crank Pulley does.

Not to steal the thread, but for even better rev matching on your 2.5i, you may need to do the flywheel. That is my next step, aiming at the 13.4 lbs ACT streetlite.
