Default WTB - 2.5 na engine

WTB - 2.5 na engine in running condition. My 99 Legacy Outback is down with a bad engine, and I need a replacement.

Let me know, I will pick it up.

Thanks,
Eric

Do you know what's wrong with it? I have a good 2.5 shortblock from an Outback if that's all you need. I also have a few sets of heads, intake manifolds, oil pans etc, I could assemble a complete engine if needed. Shortblock $300 or complete engine with new head gaskets $800

I was driving the car on Sunday morning, and without warning, I lost power and it started tapping real bad. So, I shut it down and had it towed to my Dad's house. I pulled 2 codes; Cyl 1 and 3 misfire. I replaced the coil, plugs, wires, since we thought it was misfiring. Unsuccessful. Compression check on all 4 cylinders is good. But the engine still taps really bad. The car has 253xxx miles on it. I use it for my part time job, and it is the original engine. My Dad still wants to check the oil pressure, but after that, we are not too sure what else to check.

You might have broke something in the valvetrain. Probably won't know for sure without taking it apart. I have lots of parts for these, just let me know.

I'm not trying to ruin a sale for you, but that won't work in the 99 Outback. It is a phase 1 2.5 DOHC. There is no simple way to make it work either, major wiring differences and you can't just swap intakes either, they are different.

O 99s have DOHC as well? I assumed they were like RS's.
