juan, just went and got a couple clean passes at the dragstrip. didn't try and launch it at all...just pretty much did a stoplight roll away type start. trapped 126.54mph . taking what you said about you picking up about 3mph with a good launch, that puts me close to 130mph

What's your setup? I have seen you post a few other times with big MPH. Nice to see some other guys laying down good power and backing it repeatedly!

Thumbs up!

Wow congrats, did you try to launch after that pass? Post your time slip i want to see what you run on the 1/8th? Where you run, atlanta dragway? A wagon trapping 130mph full weight with a stock locaton turbo... sick

I have done the launch test vs no launch 3 times and my car picks up 3-4mph. It makes sense as far as physics; one object starting from rest vs another launched from a slingshot. Which on has a higher terminal velocity? Add turbo lag to that equation

here's the timeslip...

60ft- 2.425
330ft- 5.885
1/8- 8.497
MPH- 95.68
1000- 10.695
1/4- 12.52
MPH- 126.54

...yeah, its full weight for sure . this run was on a full tank of gas and with the kids car seats in the back. sitting somewhere between 3400-3450ish lbs probably on this run. the guy next to me ran a 10.73@124.08 so...i am pretty happy with the run.

side note...those new mustang gt's are pretty impressive. they had one out there that ran 11.88@118mph. it was completely stock except for some bfg drag radials on the back. that is crazy fast for mustang gt's, and it gives alot of other cars a run for their money.

That is my first mod for mine.. There are guys running into the 10's with intake, tune and 150 shot... Its crazy how fast these things can be with minimal mods

Nice, so where you racing at atlanta dragway? This makes me happy my car already trapped 96mph with my green at 400whp vd. We should go to the track after summer.

no, it was down at south georgia motorsports park in cecil, ga. i did make a second pass, but it was not really good. i tried to go a little harder on the second pass, and it didn't go very well...i had to let out of it in 2nd because i was getting some loud ticking noises that i thought were the motor. turned out to just be that i overheated the flywheel a little bit and caused it to expand around the pilot bearing which created the ticking noises i was hearing. all good now for the most part though...that pass was enough to stop me from running a third pass. thats what i get for trying to take it easy on my drivetrain but still go hard and slip launching an ACT XD 6 puck . eventually i would really like to throw an r180 and some DSS axles on there so i can actually start launching like i am should be.

i am getting ready to deploy AGAIN in the next month or so, and i won't be back until late fall or maybe winter. so won't be able to go to the dragstrip with you this summer unless the deployment gets cancelled...BUT...i am totally down to go when i get back (assuming i can stay home for more than 3 months at a time ).

I though you had South Bend clutch? you didn't like it?
Ok I should you a PM when I get ready to go to the track.

Here is my time slip with my green without launching:

honestly, i loved my southbend, but i called them and told them i wanted something actually rated to my power level. they told me that they didn't even have a puck clutch rated over 550ftlbs at the flywheel so...i switched to this clutch since it is rated at like 645ftlbs at the flywheel or something like that.

Mo cylinders mo power, that's no joke. Yeah I wish we had more. I know a guy around here with a 1200wtq1226whp mustang w/427 stroker 91mm turbo and 20psi of boost. Sounds like a traction issue to me but I'd sure like to try it

Would it be stupid of me to go with 1300cc injectors? I can get them for the same price as 1000's but I don't see anyone going bigger than 850 unless they have a big turbo?? Whats the deal?

Goal: +hp +tq and to get from a 12.3 to a high 11 in the quarter...

As the car sits:
299whp 330wtq on 93 oct

Let me know what you guys think!

It's never a bad idea to go bigger. Think of it this way you will never max those 1300s out on your set up, your also getting more for your dollar and what if you decide to go bigger turbo or decide to run e85. If you do go down that road the injectors are one less thing you have to worry about. All in all there are all of these positive things to getting those 1300s but really no negative things. In my opinion I would say go for it!

One thing you may want to consider is larger injectors may cause some idle issues. I'm sure Ron can clarify this matter.

^^^He is right after a certain size the stock ecu has issues bringing the pw down low enough to have a good idle and low end driveability is sometimes compromised.

yes it is.

like john said you run into issues trying to make big injectors flow at low injector pulse widths on pump gas....even on e85 they can cause problems.

I'd highly suggest against going with 1300s for a vf. stick to 750's or 850's and be done.

With big injectors on pump gas you're essentially trying to make a fire hose spray like a kitchen water faucet. you're never going to get the same spray pattern out of the fire hose at very low flow.

I think the minimum ipw has been defined on the all stock ecu Roms if you have romraider. I know minimum ipw control is on the carberry rom for sure. I dunno about accesport though.

I just check a 2006 STi rom and didnt see it. but its not even really that parameter. its just that the injectors dont have a linear flow pattern. Theres a knee in the flow at low ipw's where the flow drops like a rock instantly. when you keep going up and down at the knee the fueling corrections start going bonkers. Theres a write up on ID's site about it.

So 1300's= bad...
Here is the thing, I don't want to go lower than 1000's because I also be going bigger turbo at some point (30r or so)...

I am going e85 as soon as I move to Missouri, Ill be making an appointment with Calvin at Cobb Plano TX.

well, you should consult them about your current and future setup and they'll let you know how to setup the car. they'll probably either suggest id1000's or fic 1280's.

30r on e85 is going to need a little more than 1000cc...

...i am a big fan of doing things once to save time and money in the long run. Ron is 100% correct that going bigger on pump gas can cause a few issues at idle sometimes, but don't misunderstand and think that the car will run horribly to the point where it is undriveable. you just have to know going into things that it may not idle like glass anymore. if you go into it knowing that and not expecting perfection, then it will be perfectly fine. my car runs just fine on 1250cc injectors on pump gas. it doesn't idle perfectly sometimes, but it idles pretty damn good...and i am running a megaMAF, 16bit ecu, and a low impedance injector resistor pack (which makes it pretty much the worst car possible in terms of response at idle). just do a youtube search for ID2200's or any other big injectors for that matter.

not in any way arguing the facts that other people have posted. i am actually agreeing with them 100%, but i don't want their posts to make you think that the car won't run properly if you go with 1300cc injectors...it will run fine, but there are just some quirks that come along with bigger injectors that you have to be willing to accept prior to doing it. thats all...
