Default Gallas and Davis Subaru of Albuquerque bad experience

Ok, this is for anyone is Albuquerque that has or might use the service department at the Gallas and Davis Subaru. This is a experience with them, take it for what you will.

Car: 02 Wrx sedan stage 2 with about 100k on the car.

Symtoms:Code for a bad cam sensor, knocking around or above 3k rpm with 0> load on the motor. The car had been driven about 3 miles with out issues and then after a stop light the check engine light and knocking appeared at the same time from a normal idle at the light.

Thoughts: The car is getting pretty old and has seen a large amount of miles running Stage 2 maps and parts. A code reader said the cam sensor was bad cam so that may have caused the knock because of the way the cpu uses the cam sensor for timing. Also, with higher miles the timing belt might have streched, which could lead to knocking as well when the cpu has lost the cam sensor.

Dealership: Car was towed on flatbed to the dealer ship and put into the works like any other day. They did a diag on the car and said the cam sensor was bad and it needed to be replaced. The cam sensor RR was ok'd and a timing belt RR and oil changed were also added on to the service. A few days later they called and said the car was ready to be picked up and everything was ok with it. Upon picking up the car the 700 dollars of service was paid with the notion that the car was now running correctly with out any of the above problems.

The car was then driven out of the parking lot and did not make it to the stop light before it started knocking. Went straight back to the dealership and asked the Service Writer why the car was still knocking after he had just told me it was fine. He responded with, I wont quote this but this is how it was remembered, Oh yea, we think that the #4 cylinder is doing that. You will most likely need a new engine. The next question was, why was that not mentioned before the $700 service was performed on a blown motor? No answer. Asked for the service manager and he did not have one either. Refused to refund the money for the service or to remove the parts and attempted to talk about appling the money as a credit to any future service including a motor, or a new car.

This is only one person's experience and not in anyway a perfect word for word statment of what went on with this dealership and is ment to allow furture possible customers to make an informed decision about their car and money. This is not personal, it is unbais to either party.

That dealership sucks, I had to deal with them when I lived in NM.

They're the only local dubaru dealership there, IIRC, so they don't really give a siht about customer service, only about making $$$.
