Manzanita race track is closing. Me and some friends are gonna go to the races tonight. Its at 35th Ave and Broadway. Heats start at 530 and the races start around 7. Give me a call if you're down to come out. 4804959137. I went last weekend and it was badass.

Didn't make it out there last night, how'd it go?

Drop me a message on here if you're going to the last race on April 11th? I don't think will have a new motor by then, so we'll be in the stands sending that track off in style!

i think its just saturday. it was some good old redneck fun. we saw a fight between two spectators at the bottom of my bleachers. it was a good one too. they were both about 250lbs and got some good hits in. and some redneck threw a half empty can of beer at them to egg it on. the race went really well too. this one racer was the first woman to ever win the championship at the track.

btw, is there somewhere else this type of race occurs around here?

oval half mile track with multiple vehicle sizes. has heats for the smaller cars, then qualifiers for the big ****ers, then the tournament for the smaller cars, then heats and tournaments for the big ****ers. insert drunk rednecks getting in a fight at least once somewhere in there.

Manzy used to run Friday and Saturday. Friday night races were usually lower end stock cars and Saturday is usually high horsepower open wheel & stock cars. They will be closing their doors April 11th.

http://www.manzanitaspeedway.us/

Manzanita closing is a major hit to open wheel dirt racing on the west coast. It has been in operation for over fifty years, with some of the biggest names runnin' out here. It has been revered as one of the top three half mile dirt tracks in the country.

Canyon Speedway Park is in far north Peoria and runs a very similar format.
They are only runnin' on Saturday nights.

USA raceway is in Tuscon and they run both Friday and Saturday.

This type of racing, while not for everyone, is very family/friend oriented and somewhat affordable (depending on the class you wanna run). You can actually go down and hang out with the drivers. Your kids can climb in the cars while you talk to these guys/girls. They'll let you inspect their cars and explain how they set them up. There really is a lot more going on in some of these classes then most people can imagine. Putting a 1100-1400lb open wheel car around a dirt track with either a 360ci or 410ci methanol injected V8 is truly something to see.

You can't run a street car on the track. It's been done after races in the past and didn't end well.

I believe that at the end of the year Canyon Speedway has a run-what-you've-brung race. You've just gotta sign a waiver. Last year I believe a F250 took 1st, which made me miss my Subaru. I'll try to remember to post when this does occur again. I'd love to see a Subaru out there taken home first place.

No worries, man. I've always wanted to take the STi out there, just didn't want to deal with breakin' it.

Either way, it's defiantly a good time, whether you're drivin' or not!
