Default Help with changing my rear turn signal

Hey everyone. Forgive me if this is the wrong forum (SO glad I found this place...what an awesome forum )

I'm trying to replace my rear left turn signal and can't get the light casing separated from the car.

I remember having this problem last year when I replaced the rear right turn signal..but never figured out how to get it off. One day it just came off after probably a week of trying.

I have taken the harness bolts out, but I can't for the life of me get the dang thing to pull off.

Does anyone have a tip or tactic that I'm missing to make this easier?

Any help would be appreciated.

D.

You shouldn't have to take any harness bolts out. You need to pull out the whole tail light to get to the turn signal bulb. When you have the tailgate down, there should be a narrow plastic cover that you pry off to get to the two bolts that hold the tail light housing in. Once the cover is off, remove the two bolts that hold in the housing, and then give the light itself a little tug straight back and the whole thing should pop out.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I am amazed at the timing. I discovered on the way to church this morning that the right rear turn signal is blown in my '03 Baja. So I am came to the forum to get some help with taking it apart. I was wondering if you could tell me where to find the harness bolts? Do I need to take the side panel of bed liner off to get to them? I have a snuglid that has rails installed on top of the liner, so am really hoping I don't have to take that whole thing off just to change the bulb. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: I just saw Benhart21's post after I submit this, gonna go take a look now. Thanks!

That worked like a charm. After removing the two bolts under the plastic cover, I was able to slide out the assembly. I did find that it was pretty tight and had to use a bit of force to get it out. Not sure if I imagined it or not, but it seemed that when I put just a little bit of upward pressure on it is when it came loose. Anyhow, I'm back to four working signals. Thanks again!

I'll try the upward pressure...

I'm having a bugger of a time here.

Benhart...thanks, but I've got the panel pried off, etc...more having trouble with disconnecting the assembly from the car.

Maybe I'm just being a wuss.

I had a hell of a time getting my tail lights out the first time. I made the mistake of pulling off the inside panel of the bed before I checked the owner's manual and saw the right way to do it.

i can attest to the taillights being a huge pain, i know i sat there for a minute trying to figure out if there was a bolt or something i missed. but yeah, they just take some force to "pop" out.
