Default CEL with Cruise Blinking

Well saturday night I get out of work started up my car and the CEL came on with the cruise control light blinking. Drove home car seemed to be running fine nothing out of the ordinary. So i figured ok I'll just go have the code pulled at autozone tomorrow. The next morning I head over to autozone CEL light still on with the cruise blinking, Go inside and the guy tells me they are too short handed to do it today. So I figured I'd just go to a differnt autozone. I get back in the car and there is no more CEL and cruise is working fine and not blinking. WTF. So sunday goes by with no CEL or nothing. Today was good until tonight and the light came on again with the cruise blinking as I was heading home. Im going to try to get the code pulled tomorrow if its still on lol. Any ideas of whats going on guys ? BTW only mods done to the car are Borla Headers, Stromung Dual Tip Catback

CODE THROWN IS P0031

probably the coil pack... they fail frequently on the 2005, and I had the same symptoms when mine failed...twice!

Blinking cruise is to notify you that your computer is sorry, but it can't allow you to use your cruise right now, as there may or may not be something amiss under the bonnet. it's like an initial stage of limp mode, without the limping. Check the code and see where that points you. I hate to ask, but have you checked your gas cap?

Scan it anyway. The code that previously illuminated the CEL will still be in the ECU. It might give you a head start on ordering parts or allow you to carry a spare in the car for whenever it actually does fail.

If your gas cap is loose, it will set the CEL and not make the cruise light blink. If the cruise light is blinking, there's a problem in that system. If your CEL is blinking, I'd pull over quick as it could be massive amounts of knock or misfires or anything else destructive going on. When it's blinking it means the malfunction in that system happening at that moment. If it's just on stable it created a hard code to memory. Plus if you have less than 15% or more than 85% fuel in the tank, the evap test won't run and therefore a loose gas cap may not show up as a gross or small leak in the evap system code.

I bet you money its just a cat effinciecy or something along that (dealing with the exaust). Seeing that you have an RS that is more than likely it-if you dont have tuning. As for the cruise light it will always blink like stated above its a saftey feature of your cruise control. The newer models have that.

btw i used to have an rs with boria headers along with an n1 cat-back

only way to get rid of that is to use a o2 extension i think fastwrx may sell them.

soooo many things can be wrong... You're better off pulling the code first to get an idea.

ohh and for the MY05 the cel eliminator that you splice in doesn't work, it actually hurts your car.. it throws another code and its p2096 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean so according to williaty that is a bad code because it can potentially hurt your car.. so just let the code go

My wife's '06 2.5i did the same thing this morning. CEL and cruise blinking, with the engine suddenly running rough. She was only a minute from home so turned around came back.

I'm thinking coil pack? Is this common on '06 models?

My 06 did this after an accident were the canister was damaged several times and the code was evap failure. It did not effect the way it ran at all. The dealer reset the code ands its been ok for abouit 3 weeks now. Man I hope I did not Jinx myself lol.

-poor electrical connection
- failed H02S11

Any ideas whats going on guys Im prob taking my car in to get looked at later this week

It's your front o2 sensor, the heater part of it isn't working correctly. replace it and see if that solves your problem. Checker auto parts has universal replacements for about $60.00
