Default PPG and VF39

Hey everyone. So it appears that my journey to reassemble my car had been delayed once more due to unaccountable reasons with parts; it's been parked for the past 6 weeks and it was scheduled to be resuscitated by Friday or Saturday---perhaps Sunday or Monday now. Anyway, I was curious to know what kind of performance I will be experiencing when it is complete--and, of course, assuming that everything goes together well and no problems emerge. She is getting a wrapped PnP VF39, wrapped DP+UP+headers+crossover pipe, lightweight crank pulley, ACT clutch, ACT ~14 lb flywheel, Koyo Radiator, STi TMIC, pinks and fuel pump, APS turbo inlet, 1-4 helical PPGs, and a protune. Along with those upgrades are your normal replacement of parts (i.e. water pump, timing belt/bearings/tensioners, etc.). The last vehicle I owned is an '87 944 with bolt-ons. My Subaru was running an AP Stage 2. For curious and anxious reasons, what kind of difference and performance will it exhibit?

zomg fellow 944 owners. I had an 87' 944S and now i have an 88' 944 turbo. Those are solid mods that should make u a bit quicker than a stock STI depending on tune of course. If you mean compared to stock..you cant really, the extra boost and power will feel great. If you mean compared to a 944...well u cant compare at all but im sure u already know that.

Yeah, after a protune; from reading around it appears others are putting down around 300 whp.

Blakkboxer: the turbo was free and I realize the inferiority of the turbo compared to others but that wasn't my concern. I'm sure I will be exchanging turbos some time in the future. Nice 944 btw. I still have mine but it's not registered or insured---just a backyard ornament at the moment. Mine is white too.

What did those PPG gears cost you? If you don't mind me asking. Sounds like a good set-up. But agreed needs different turbo....but free is better!!

Sell the vf39 and get a used 20g with the money,I am sure who ever gave you the turbo would understand why you traded for the 20g.

really should go for the bigger turbo since you've got the car apart now. But expect a pretty good change with the VF39 but nothing that would justify getting PPG's. I swapped to a VF43 last year and squezed out 319/339 but I've also got a 2.5. All I can say is if you stick with the VF39 you are going to be wanting more power in about a month. Especially with those gears.

To the OP: I have almost the exact same setup as you. I pull 12.9s all day with my vf39, FMIC, 1000cc injectors, intake, UTEC, 1-4 ppgs, Exedy stage 1 clutch, ACT flywheel, short shifter, etc..... Anyway yes I got a protune by TurboXS and the vf39 over the td04 is a nice change. I got videos and a dyno cahrt if you want me to post them

Your going to enjoy the vf39 for about a year or so. That should give you plenty of time to save up for a different turbo. Sounds like a good set-up. I'm jealous. I want gears.
