did timing belt, put new water, and oil pump, thermostat, and new belt tensioner.. The timing is perfect and all correctly aligned. It has gas and spark as well. Im hoping it's just flooded so i'm letting it sit for an hour to let the gas evaporate.
It backfired a couple times while trying to start it. Fuses are all fine and I know there is gas. I also physically checked for spark and I have that too. please help im about to try to keep starting it here soon and could use some input

Backfiring = you probably screwed up the installation.
Flooded? It can only happen on a fuel injected vehicle with a faulty sensor(s) or whacked computer, leaking injector for the most part. Try flooring the car while you crank it over. The computer will fire the ignition and shut off the injectors while you do this on many vehicles. Last edited by mikeythejew; 04-02-2009 at 05:03 PM. Reason: why ask why? |

Did you turn the motor by hand? If not turn it for several revolutions to make sure you have no type of interference. If it binds up something is wrong just don't force it.

Is it throwing any codes? Check that first, otherwise it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
