Default 2005 Impreza people ??

I know that 2005 was the last year of the UEL OEM exhaust manifolds. For the guys that have an 05 did you swap out your stock for a header? If so do you still have your old stock manifold? Does it have the cat integrated into the piece like on 06 plus EL manifolds? If you have a custom exhaust on your 2005 impreza ccould you please share your thoughts

I have an 05 and put borla headers on the car. The stock header does not have a cat in it.

NAs have never had true unequal length headers, i.e. like the WRXs. Somethings different about the 05- headers though because they don't sound like the 06-07s.

The 2005 N/A stock manifold looks exactly like the turbo one but the it has a three bolt flange that doesnt dump upwards it just points back to the mid pipe I think

It doesn't, actually. The two collectors don't meet until the cat.

EDIT:
Here's a pic:

Yeah, though everyone calls the 05 and older NA headers UEL, they're astonishingly close to being EL. The real difference is that they're a 4-2-1 design with REALLY SHORT primaries.

Lets put it this way: anyone outside of a marketing department would say it's just as close to EL as the 06+ headers are.

Yet we call the 05- headers UEL and we call the 06+ headers EL. Why? The biggest difference, if you remove the heat shields, is that the 06+ headers have primaries that are at least 5x as long as on the 05-.
