quick swap question

I found a good 1997 impreza coupe for my swap

Im 99% sur that my 06 sti engine will drop right in

but im not sure about the 6speed tranny because the 1997 is an auto

will it work?

your help is greatly appreciated

I looked around but could not find a clear answer

theres a wiring headache involved in a auto-manual conversion. however, youll already have a wiring headache doing an 06 swap... i would say the auto-manual is the least of your worries

how much of the 06 sti do you have

if you have the whole car, the auto part isn not an issue

drop in is not really a good description...

welding will be required for the dash swap (which is necessary due to the immobilizer on the 06 do you have a working key?)

thanks for the help I already have the 06 sti swaped into a 2002 rs

but it is the first car I ever worked on so you can imagine some of the sloppy problems and the body is not in that great of shape

plus I think Im falling in love with the 2door RS look and its about 600 lbs lighter than the sti

i want to drive the 97 wile I get the block built and get all the mods I want that put it together as a complete car

its to hard to try and build the car u drive every day
