Post Friday the 13th

So it's a day like any other day, except I will be the proud new father of a black 5 speed WRX sedan on the 14th. I'm getting my loan finalized, my car has arrived at Larry H. Miller Subaru in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I'll I have to do is make it through work and get on the road. Easy day. No, not really. I get a phone call about 2:30 from my dealer - "Umm Have some bad news about your car. We've dropped a garage door on it and creased the hood." There went my new baby. "We'll fix it up like new for you." Yeah sure you will. I'll let them keep a car that has been to the body shop before I've even driven it. It was either that or they didn't want to sell it for $350 over invoice any more, doesn't matter that I've had money down on it since January. Who knows, but I would like to tell you I-Clubbers, if you are in SLC and want a WRX, don't get VIN# JF1GD29672G504499. And if you already have a black WRX with that VIN number, I hope your next car is an Aztec...

That really sucks dude.

My dealer ordered a Sedan for me and I wanted a Wagon. Dealer admitted he screwed up and took some more money off the price but it is still damned disappointing after waiting since February.

I hope when my WRX Wagon actually comes they don't drop a freakin' garage door on it.

Damn. Friday the 13th has screwed 3 of us now by my count.

I wouldn't wish a garage door in the middle of any subie's hood. Sorry to hear about the screw up. To make things worse, I just sold my RS and am driving my POS 85 honda, because I thought I was going to get a new car tomorrow. I guess that will teach me to jump the gun. It wouldn't bother me so much if the dealership had handled it differently. I can't really say much about their customer service. Well, good luck with your new ride.

Screaming2.5...so what's happening are you getting a brand new one, hopefully because they are committed to sell you a brand new car as per your bill of sale.

The whole story is a little screwed up. About three days ago I got a phone call from some strange sales man. apparently, the Subaru part of the dealership decided to separate and start their own lot. My original salesman who I had negotiated my purchase deal with stayed with the old lot. The new sales man made a crack that made me wonder about this whole story. When I talked to him the first time and he had explained what had gone on with the dealerships, I asked about price because I wanted the same deal as I had previously had. Well he said yes I would get the same price, but that he wished he wasn't selling it to me because the demand in SLC was so high for 5 speed sedans. Then when he told me what had happened with the garage door and all, he made me feel like I could take that one or leave it. I truly felt like he didn't want to sell me a car. I actually asked him if he wasn't giving me a line so he could sell it to someone else for more money. I'm going to get a refund and write Subaru. I know that they can do anything, but it will make me feel better. Additionally I'm going to have a friend swing by that lot tomorrow and see if the car really has a crease down the hood.

So I guess the story I was told was ligit. My buddy stopped by and asked about getting a WRX 5 speed and they said they have one, but that they couldn't show it to him. He felt like they were telling the truth about the garage door. He also said that they were very nice and helpful, so take my story for what it is worth. I'm not to sure what to think about the whole thing. I guess I'm just disapointed that I'm not getting my car.

I remember a story about some guy buying a BMW and later finding out that it had been resprayed before it was sold as new. He went to court about it and won, kept the car and they paid it off for him. I'd call Subaru of America if I were you and see what they say about the whole thing. I know there are places out there that still have new ones on their lots that you can get so maybe you can find one of those places.
