OMGHi2U 2009 GT4 Nurburgring Time Attack Challenge

THIS CHALLENGE IS OVER.

FINAL POINTS STANDINGS

1. Chiketkd - 66
2. TGrits10 - 54
3. Robbie_B - 26
4. Rufus428 - 24
5. pinkertonpunk - 18
6. Dogbert2 - 6
7. inmledoml23 - 4
8. Evoracer - 3

This Time Attack Challenge will focus solely on the legendary Nurburgring circuit. All cars will be raced in stock form so there'll be no set-up tricks to worry about -- just your driving! This is a single round challenge.

The winner will be crowned the 2009 NASIOC GT4 "King of the 'Ring!"

THIS CHALLENGE WILL END ON SATURDAY, APRIL 25TH @ 12:00 MIDNIGHT - NO EXCEPTIONS

The ground rules are simple:

- Stock "Street Tires" (the same ones that come on the car when you purchase it)

-Two tires on the tarmac at all times, that means two full tires, if you've got two tires on the dirt and two tires halfway on the dirt, your lap is no good. The curbs count as tarmac, as do cobblestones and concrete and pretty much anything that isn't grass or dirt or gravel. If you need any clarification at any point, just ask. Just want it to be fair and more importantly, the same for everyone.

-Due to the length of this circuit one "mulligan" or "do over" is allowed. This includes four tires on the grass or a light wall tap. This does not permit short cuts across the grass or hard hits into guardrails.

-All laps will be done in Gran Turismo (simulation) mode, in the 5 cr. Practice session. **Save your ghost replay in case you ever need to defend your integrity.**

-Oil changes and car washes are always allowed.

-Driver aids are always up to you. You are free to change anything that comes standard on a car.

-Post your times in this format: TIME/DRIVER/CAR

I hate understeer. Stock setups are almost always pushin' pigs. Boooo

That said, I like most of the cars here.
CSL = Yes. Just....yes.
GT40 = So much power. So little grip on street tires. High speed track. Interesting.
RGT = Worthless brakes, lots of power. Will catch people out
AWD BoiRacer Cars = At least you can toss 'em around some on stock setups
CooperS = Stupidly fun go kart in real life. In GT4? We shall see
MR-S = I seem to recall really liking the handling

This car's handling is spot on! It's slow as hell -- so it'll reward smooth inputs, speed maintenance lines and people with tons of patience.

I did a few laps in this car last night and it ain't too shabby. You can brake really late into turns. There's some power-on understeer and wheelspin at times, but all in all not too shabby for a fwd car.

Unfortunately, I don't know how compatible the two games are - so the answer would be no.

If you want to run some cars and post up the times we can see how they compare.

Will start on some laps tomorrow!

Maybe we could get a Tourist Trophy version of this as well?

I was posting some pretty good lap times on my CBR600

Hey there odepaj! I remember you from my SVX days.

I'm going to try and keep this challenge simple. I have a light autocross schedule in April which I why I arranged this.

^ That would be the best course of action. The times between most racing games aren't comparable.

Agreed. Not twitchy like most mid-engined cars, and rewards smooth steering and throttle inputs.

Crap. Here I was excited that I found another six seconds. Only 15 to go if I want to be competitive.

The trick with this car is to find its handling limit and keep it there. I have more time to find - just wait till jl05sti starts posting his times.
