Default Which school is "the best"?

Every time someone talks about wanting to study a new field, talk always goes into which school has a better program for teaching it... I'm told SFU is the place to go for business, UBC for sciences (in the lower mainland anyway) and so on, but with no real reasoning.

I was researching places to study Kinesiology in Canada and am trying to figure out the best spot in terms of international recognition, up to date equipment etc.

Basically, the universities that a future employer might think highly of. I wish there was an easy to access place I could refer to that simply ranked different schools for each field

So far the vibe I'm getting is to look into the University of Western Ontario as well as Waterloo...

My sister did her bachelor's for Kinesiology at SFU, and she got co-op placements and jobs pretty easily right after school. I think it really depends on your determination and how far you are willing to go to compete with others.

Having a school with good reputation is important, but it ain't the end all be all, its mainly up to you to make the best out of your education.

I agree with that to an extent, all schools don't have a similar curriculum, ie. Waterloo utilizes 3D imaging and eye-tracking cameras to follow body movement, which is unheard of here at UVic... Something like that could give a student a competitive edge on a resume/interview

Physio type of thing. I'm 2 weeks from my BSc (Chemistry) here, but for whatever reason, if my current plans don't work out, physio has always been of interest...

Well tbh it's a pretty ambiguous question. Your best bet is to look for one of those polls where they rate different schools.

An employer is more likely to hire you if you went to the same school as him, than if you went to the 'best' school, since he wants to think that whatever school he went to is best.

So, unless you want to start scouting out potential employers before you start school, you're best bet is just pick the most expensive school you can afford.

Honestly you might have decent luck calling some larger companies that hire people in this field and talk to someone in HR. I'm sure they will be able to offer a bit of advice. People generally like answering interesting questions and being helpful.

You could also try finding a professional organization and contacting someone that is involved with them.
