Cool 2006 STi Stage 2 Agile Auto Protune Results + AlxSTi's journal.

2006 STi Stage 2 Agile Auto Protune Results + AlxSTi's rarely updated journal located here.

Yesterday I took my STi to Agile Auto in Fallston, MD to let Hill work his magic on the dyno. We were all pretty impressed with the results to say the least!

Power Mods:
  • Tanabe Medalion Touring Catback
  • Invidia v3 Downpipe
  • K&N Typhoon Intake
  • Cobb AccessPORT w/Agile Protune
  • GrimmSpeed Boost Control Solenoid
  • NGK Iridium LFR7AIX - 1 step colder plugs
  • Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump

Results: 341.3WHP - 356.3WTQ

Assuming 20% drivetrain loss: 426HP - 445TQ at the crank!

She pulls like a champ and holds boost amazingly well (tuned to 20.5 psi and only tapers to ~16psi at redline). She is so much smoother and a blast to drive. I'd recommend Agile to anyone.

Update 9/12/09
~10k miles with the tune and still going strong as ever! The past couple months have been hella humid in DE and I was getting worried since I was not seeing target boost in most gears. 4th gear was only seeing 17psi or so and I'd only hit max (20.5) in 6th. It finally started to cool off here, so I decided to take the STi out to see what PSI I was able to get in each gear. I'm relieved and satisfied with the results (it was about 70 degrees during the test):

1st: 15psi
2nd: 19
3rd: 19.5
4th: 19.5
5th: 20.5
6th: 20.5

First gear is just so short (especially when boosting 15 psi!), but 2nd gear is just nasty at 19psi! Hopefully next update, I'll have some track times. Working on getting the windshield fixed this week.

Updated 3/08/10 - New pix on page 7. Planning to add new plugs and do a compression check soon to see how the motor is doing 15k after the tune. Wish me luck.

Updated 3/31/10 - I threw in the new plugs and did a compression check yesterday. 149psi across all 4 cylinders! The old plugs looked excellent too.

Updated 8/6/10 - A few new pix w/limited wing on page 7!

Updated 1/23/2013 - Sold! Here's my last pic of her - on our way to her new owner, earlier tonight.

I was running Cobb's 93 oct stage 2 OTS map for about a year before the tune. I believe my baseline HP with the OTS map was ~303whp. Hill said it was very high for an OTS map.

Do it! The Agile team are good people. They are having an open house 4/18 if you wanna come down.

Thanks - I highly recommend the GrimmSpeed BCS. Good price and a very simple install.

Is 20.5 safe? I was told 18.5 is kinda pushing it.... What's the AFR for that boost level?

I'm told 21 psi is the max you'd want to push safely. With supporting mods, like colder plugs, upgraded fuel pump, and an excellent tune, 20.5 is perfectly fine. I'm not 100% sure what my AFR was.. still waiting on Agile to email me the data.

The AFR's from what I remember (BUT DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS) were right around the 11.4-11.5 area and a tad richer at red line. Pretty standard I'd say.

^^ Yep.. I'll be taking her to Cecil sometime soon. The best 1/4 time I got with her was 12.8 last year when I first flashed the OTS stage 2 map. I'm hoping to see around 12.5. I took ran her a couple weeks ago and got pretty shameful times, so I'm a little discouraged now. We'll see..

Hm.. maybe the FMIC and larger injectors are holding you back with the stock snail. Usually, larger injectors aren't reccomended with the stock turbo, unless you want to sacrifice some fuel economy for slightly better power. Once you upgrade the turbo, I'm sure you'll be very happy with the results.

Ahh I see! I might have to upgrade the pump then. And I'm not looking forward to the overkill of work of changing the spark plugs... Shoulda just gotten Bosch Iridium instead of letting the dealer do it for free (hehehe).

Nice numbers btw man! Really killer car and the best color

How much time for plugs? I haven't even wanted to bother with them because of the PITA they are.

1 stage or 2 stage cooler would be better?

My 07 was much easier than my 04 to change the plugs out.

Thanks. The fuel pump helps lower the IDCs and doesn't effect fuel economy (common misconception). With the pump I believe my injectors were almost maxed out.. but not totally (maybe 92% IIRC). Larger injectors are definitely needed with a larger turbo.

^^yep. Xreign did the plugs and compression check on both my 04 and 06 STi fairly quick! It's not as hard as people make it seem (no need to remove the wheels or jack the motor).

20.5 is reasonable as long as it tapers. Mine has 19 tapering to 15 and has run this way for 10k+ miles.

What about timing? I'm not too learned on timing tuning so maybe someone could enlighten me when running 20lbs on 11.2-11.5 afr.
