Question 03 WRX: Turbo upgrade?

Got an 03 WRX for street.
Currently running catless turbo back exhaust, stock TMIC, drop in k&N filter and stock ecu-reflash w/215whp (dynomanics)

Which turbo will produce the most power w/o sacrificing engine reliability?

Turbos Options:

IHI VF 22, 34, 39

Garrett GT30R

Blouch 16g, 18g, 20g

Tomei

APS

thanks for your input

I am running a FP 16g right now and think its awesome. (well I am building the motor right now, but when the car was running it was fun) I have a friend with a vf22 and its some good racing between the two of us, even though I tend to win them all! haha. You should really decide what your final power goals are and that is going to narrow your selection down a bit. If you dont know what kind of power you want your going to get 500 people telling you why you should go with one over the other and you will be back to square one not know what you want.
oh, and to say you only want a little more power is a lie, you always want more, even if you wallet yells no. (or wife)

Wow, turbo sizes all over the place!
VF series, mitsu or SR56?
All hugely different turbos.
VF series are not rebuildable; of those only the 22 and 34 are the only ones worth anything.
All real Mitsu CHRA 16III/18/20 compressors are fine. TD05/06 housings and 7cm^2 or 8cm^2 turbines mix things up for higher RPMs.
The APS turbo is a 56 lbs wheel and is way too big for a 2.0 litre DD.

Here is look at the turbos http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1084275
I run a VF30 and it works well for me. Just remember your tranny when building power.

Depends on what ya wanna do. For straight line its great. AutoX not so much.

The new 3071r rotated kits can spool early 4000's a i believe. For straight lines thats all you need.

If you want big power at 2000rpm buy a V8

This is just my opinion BTW.

As power goes up, reliability goes down. Its not linear but more exponential like so your answer is NONE.

To the op, your post is pretty vague, suggesting you haven't done much research. If you want some reliability and more hp, a cheap vf39 sounds like a good option. You should gain at least 50 hp or so and hold the power better towards redline. However, a vf39 won't hold max power quite all the way to redline, so you may be less tempted to run it out to 7 g's all the time, which could also help with reliability. As mentioned, more hp means less reliability. You have to decide for yourself just how far you want to go. I went evo3 16g, and I'm planning on building a short block over the summer just in case...

Ever heard of an sr40? It's quite a nice turbo for our ej205, and guess who made it. APS makes/has made more than just the sr56...
