Question noisy suspension

I've noticed lately it seems as though hitting certain potholes or rough pavement on the road or going over some tracks my suspension seems noisier than it used to. Not creaky.. I'm not sure how to explain it other than it just seems louder when it hits bumps on the road.

I do all my own oil changes, and I know at some lube places they lube certain points in the chassis of some vehicles. The Baja doesn't have any chassis lube points does it? Or is it just that this is due to worn out struts? 2004, 129k miles now, original shocks likely. It doesn't feel like it rolls any more than it did when I first bought it at 58k miles.

I know when I replaced my GF's 93 wagon shocks it made a world of difference in body roll. I'm pretty sure those were original shocks and they were long long gone.

There are no grease fittings that need any regular lube. it could be struts, strut tops, swaybar endlinks, ball joints, etc. etc. etc. See if you can narrow down where it is coming from and what conditions trigger it.

Megan racing makes a coilover kit for the Baja. around 8-9 hundred. I'm picking it up in two weeks. FINALLY. I'll post pics and a full report on how they feel / if it was worth it.

Thats just going to make the noise issue worse! But I will admit if the baja was not my daily driver, I would already have a set.

You know, I tried those Megans, I bought a used pair off a guy here and I think I sold them to somebody on here as well. They just seemed to bouncy (as in bouncing 5-7 times at a stop) and rough for me and I preferred a bit of a smoother ride so I just went back to factory suspension. Eventually I'd like to put on beefier sway-bars.

Eh, it does require more research. I was just wondering if anyone here has already encountered any noisy suspension components on their `04 or `03. I can push down on corners and it bounces back only once or twice, no noise.

EDIT: I noticed today that after backing out of a parking space on a slope, as the vehicle weight shifted to the rear while I was breaking I thought I heard a subtle pop from the rear.

Also, I remember about a year or two ago I had been slopping through a MUDDY road and pulled up the driver's side on a steep incline and parked it. When I got out I heard a loud clunk coming from somewhere under the vehicle. I've heard stories of sway bars doing this...? I've never heard anything quite like that since then.

my sway bar end links make the same noise. They need to be replaced.

Ahh thanks for the tip. It seems like mine is mostly coming from the rear. Did you have to do all four of yours?

I was unclear on my previous post. I was stating that my rear endlinks are bad and currently make a similar sound to what you are describing. I had it on a lift and traced it to the endlinks, you can actually see them "pop" when you put a certain amount of load on the swaybar.

I was not trying to tell you this is the case on your vehicle, although it might be worth looking into.

I have not replaced my swaybar end links yet, But I will in the near future.
