Default 2004 Impreza TS Wagon CEL Flashing

My Subie is a 2004 Impreza 2.5TS Wagon. All stock, no mods. 64K 5spd

I was driving on the highway today and revved the engine pretty good getting onto the highway, i hit like 4500 RPM in 3rd and 4th gear, then had cruise control at around 3000 RPM in 5th gear. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and started flashing. I am not sure if i was giving it gas at the moment or not but i took the cruise off and slowed down a little bit. The light went off and hasn't been on since. I drove the car home on the highway, about 30 miles and no light. There were no particular symptoms that happened when the light came on. In general my car has been running a little funny lately.

1. There is a very faint tick when i start the car and its idling. It may be there under higher RPMs but i cant hear it unless the car is idling.
2. I changed the air filter like 6 months ago and since then whenever i really push the gas and open the throttle the exhaust has sounded different. Its been a deeper more full sounding exhaust.
3. The mileage has been down slightly over the last 6 months or so, not directly after the air filter change but around that time. I was averaging about 25MPG mixed and now I get more like 22-23 MPG same kinda driving.

I have not had a tune up or major service done. I am going to stop at autozone and see if i can get the code. Should I just change the plugs and coilpacks since im over 60k now? I am wondering if I should just do some of this preventative maintenance now, but I am not sure what is most critical/biggest bang for your buck to do right now.

TIA-more to come

search is your friend. Blinking CEL is a misfire that can cause damage to the cats. First step is to check/replace the plugs. At a couple of dollars each, it's a cheap thing to do and it's normal maintenance. You can check your valve lash to see if it's within spec, it's been known to cause misfire codes. From there, search, there are many different causes for a misfire.

I stopped at Autzone after work today to get the code read. I have driven approximately 35 miles since the check engine light was flashing. The cruise control was on because i was using it and was a steady light. The code couldn't be read and just said "pass" in the lcd screen. I got a Lucas Fuel Injector bottle and threw that in today with super. I normally run regular but have run 91 octane in the past with no difference. I plan on replacing the plugs and fuel filter very soon as a result of this.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
TIA

PCV valve is on the rear of the crankcase near the passenger (right) side cylinder head. Whats is the P1512 code definition?

Default p1215 code

says the idle air solenoid is messed up or reading poor flow and is messing my O2 sensor too. i also remember putting Boshe plugs in roughly a year ago and its been about that long that the car has been acting up! Im thinking of going to my local import parts place and getting some nippon or OTHEr plugs
