Why...seems like there's better options...Link G4, Vipec, etc.

+1 for the Link G4 plug and play. The unit comes pre-loaded with a base tune for the stock motor. Plug-ins are avaliable for the Ver1/2, Ver3, etc. The G4 also comes with the firmware embedded in the PCLink tuning software vs the G3+ unit which requires a separate install for the firmware. They are about 300 to 400 more than the PowerFC (with the commander) and Datalogit software.

also look into the ViPEC plug and play. that is what i am running on my EJ20G. it is awesome!!!

this ECU is an awesome plug and play, not plug and pray, like some of the other standalones.

go to http://www.vi-pec.com/ and download the softwear. just play with it and see how easy it is to use.

I will research these other options. The aem seems to everything u would possibly need to tune your car even launch control. So is there or is there not a aem standalone for my engine?

I don't know about the Vipec, but the Link has both Launch Control and Flat Foot Shifting capabilities.

IIRC, the Vipec is around $1600, and the Link G4 is $1500.

Honestly I did not realise they were so many different ems for the gc8's. Well the the Hrdra nemesis 2.6, vipec, Haltech platinum 1000 0r 2000 and Link G4 all seem to be similar in features so i guess it boils down to price however, they seem to be pretty competitive with each other. Can someone share some pros and cons of the different brands just mentioned?

don't forget to refer to your local tuners preference unless you can tune it youself

ya, usually the tuners have their own unit they're either a dealer for or just prefer to tune. from talkin to people the Hydra is sorta a bother to tune, AEM is good, but as stated, the others are right up there with it for less cost. though i believe the AEM has base maps where the others dont? though you may be able to find maps online to use, as a base if nothing else.

I think I'm going with the Haltech platinum 1000, comes with harness and base map for $1300.
