Default JDM ej22 any better than USDM

So I just picked up a JDM ej22, not a turbo block or anything just an N/A ej22 out of a JDM car, as far as I can tell its the same as any other ej22, but I remember seeing a list on here of all the different EJ engines and remember seeing that in Japan they go some variations of the ej22 that we didn't like some lean burning higher mpg one and I think one that made I little torque if anyone know what list I'm taking about and has a link that would be great.

And would there be any way too tell if my engine is any different than a normal usdm one.

Unless you tore it apart, which you might want to do anyway. Replace the timing belt, headgaskets, cam and crank seals, valve cover gaskets, thermostat, inspect the water pump and knock sensor, take a couple pics of the pistons....you know, the usual stuff.
