Stupid question, but how difficult is it to replace the pinion seal?

Not hard at all. If this doesn't sell soon I'll probably replace it myself.

All you have to do is loosen the nut on the connection piece to the driveshaft, remove the connection piece, tap in the new seal, put the connection piece back on, and tighten the nut up to the torque spec.

About as easy as it gets working on a differential.
