Default 2.5RS's, how much would they REALLY go for?

I've been looking around at the online ads lately and holy crap, some people have horrible asking prices ranging from $16k-$19k. The best price I saw was a silver MY00 on Yahoo! for $14.5k, but it was an automatic and I saw an MY98 for $14k/OBO, but I was looking for MY00-MY01. I've seen ads out of state for around $13k or $15k the most for a near mint 2.5RS. Stupid imaginary California tax. -_-

If anyone knows of some better prices or info on pricing, that would be great. Well, that's my rant for the day.

Check kbb.com Remember, California has a higher cost of living as compared to other states, so if you look out of state, you'll generally find it cheaper. Everything is more expensive in California...rent, gas, food, ...but on we do get paid more!

Wouldn't buying an out of state RS cause smog cert. issues?

Not really. I believe the newer RS's all meet California spec...but I could be wrong. The worst thing you'd have to do is when you buy the car, it would have to get smogged. Unless you took out the cats...it should pass.

Leoneo01, I am not sure if tranny on the L would bolt up to the USDM wrx motor. So you probably need either wrx tranny or rs tranny with rear differential.

If you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing on the EJ20 conversion, I highly recommend a group of guys who did the conversion for me. So let me know if you are interested. ( these guys have done 3 wonderful conversion already. )

Whoa, sounds like a sweet deal. I'll definately think about it. However, I was kinda looking forward to getting the MY00-MY01 since they have sunroofs. However, I do like the more rigid chassis in the New Age Imprezas. I'll see which one I like. So far I've sat in a New Age WRX once and I really liked the interior space and the way everything looks and feels. I just need to get a loan or take over someone's payments (if they're fairly reasonable).

Since nobody answered your question I guess I'll be the first.

I bought my used MY2000 RS coupe from hman here on I-Club for $16K and I thought it was a good price for the car.

I then sold it for $16K and I think it was still a fair price. I now see them going for more, and if they are in the condition that mine was in I don't think it's a bad thing... they don't make these anymore.

I wish I hadn't sold it...

I just want a car that's around 1996 or newer. I was thinking about an L project today and calculated everything I'd need to do like update the interior or work on it, Ver5 front end, side skirts, rear spats, and drop in an MY02 WRX EJ20 with a new tranny. The L's tranny won't bolt up will it? Even if it did, I'm assuming, performance-wise, the gear ratios won't sync up as well as they should with an EJ20. Well, whatever I'm working with, it will all depend on how much I'm willing to borrow, which is around $15,000 or so. Of course, I'd also dump some of my own cash into mods like full coilovers, sway bars, wheels, new tires, brake upgrades, etc eventually. Keep in mind, I'm only making roughly around $500 more or a bit less per month during the school year and a few hundred more a month during the summer.

Hey I have a 4EAT MY00 RS Silverthorn Sedan with 43,000 freeway miles. If you do a search on AussieBrydon you should pull up all my particulars. If you'll let me keep my 18' Prodrive P1's I'll let you have my car for $14,250 - I have been in two accidents and have blown up my engine (dealer replaced - engine is now stock except for cold-air intake) my first accident was a slide into the kerb on an offramp - just smacked the drivers side tire so hard it buckled my the suspension on that side. I cashed out on my rims, bought the P1's, and had them fix the rest of the suspension - lifetime warrenty on the work (used all original Subaru parts). The second accident was a stop-light thing, the chic went, then stopped, and I rubbed her bumper. There was a few scuff-marks on my bumper - had it sanded and re-painted - looks better than new. The car has clears all around and a 3" cold-air PDM Racing intake, looks sweet Still interested - drop me a line AussieBrydon@yahoo.com

Nah, I'm not looking for an 4EAT. There's already a stock 4EAT for sale up here anyway. Thanks for the reply.
