Default So what is the best way to get rid of those damned Cats without triggering CEL?

What is the best way to get rid of as many Catylitic convers as possible without triggering the CEL? Is there anyway at all to get rid of all 3 of em without triggering the CEL? If so..which is the best and least pricey if possible, up-pipe and down pipe.

You can't. The CEL is complaining about the missing cats.

The only way your ECU will recognize a catalytic malfunction is by comparing O2 sensor voltage differences. There are two ways to bypass this (eliminate the cats and have no CEL): 1) Have separate O2 bungs w/ catalytic material in them welded to the new pipes for the O2's. This will not cause any friction losses internal to the pipe since the cat material and O2's sit 'outside' the flow area.; and 2) Simply extend the O2 wire leads and bring the O2's into the cabin and leave them there. This should not cause the CEL to illuminate since the ECU is primarily looking for a 'difference' in O2 sensor voltage (due to catalization--more O2 content after the cat) and not at the actual voltages which are basically inconsequential.
I would go with the first option since some pipes ae already available with this O2 bung. Good luck!!

godspeeds downpipe uses option #1 as stated above. godspeed.hack.net. Installed on Sunday, no CEL's. I bought it used and the guy who had it before me had it for a couple months with no CEL's.

uppipes don't throw the cat inefficency CEL, downpipes do. They have an o2 sensor near the rear end that you can see underneath the car. Uppipes have the stock EGT sensor bung, at leasst all of the ones I have seen do.

I remember reading about an MIL eliminator on this board a while ago. It basically wires into the second O2 sensor to mimick the proper readings for the ecu not to throw a code. With this device, you should be able to run no cats . . . no problem

I don't know much about this device, but I think Brullen may have used it to fix CE light problems with their headers/hi-flow cat combo.

Do a search under MIL eliminator or Brullen (although be prepared to sift through alot of posts with just Brullen).
