Default EJ255 into 04 wrx question

Ive Done a few EJ257 swaps into early WRXs but this is my first EJ255 and was assuming they were going to be the same. Its an 06 WRX longblock and I am using all my wrx accessories/intake mani/fuel rails and such. I came across these holes on the rear of the heads and had no idea what it was for, I looked through all the parts I got with the engine(It was completely disassembled) and Found what goes on there but wasnt real sure what their function was?(Some sort of air pump) My question is can I just block both holes on the heads off with a metal plate or is it necassary to have these hooked up and if so how can I do it with my setup? THanks

If i am not mistaken i think 06-07 wrx's came with Air Pumps. Thats what those look like, i dont know for sure but it look like egr/emissions crap.

ahhh now i do remember reading something about air pumps back in the day. So you think I can just block the holes off and be fine? I dont care about any of the egr emissions just want it to run

Found out I can just make a plate and block them off.
