Default Turbo For Ej16

Hi guys,

I have a subaru impreza MY 07 (middle eat specs.) The car has a 1.6 SOHC. I want to turbo charge my engine. What's the right turbo kit for me, and where can I buy it?

Thanks.

even if you find a turbo for that motor, its not going to make much power. theres just not enough exhaust gas comming out to power anything proper. I would take uncle scottys advice on this one and stay na.

Is it FWD?

Well... The 1.6 is what, 90 hp? A turbo might not be worth it, but if you have room, an Eaton M45 might bump you up to 135 or so hp. But, longevity at that level would be questionable at best, you might blow the engine into little pieces. Any warrenty on it would be void at best, too.

Yes, it is a 95 bhp. Thanks to you all. I guees you are right, the turbo is not a good idea.

Any clue where can i buy a wrecked impreza with an EJ20T engine so i can take the engine and suspension? And what is the expected price?

Has anyone suggested maybe using the same turbo off of the 1.8ltr EA81T/EA82T subarus? The power dropped off with that turbo on those engines between 4000rpm (EA81T) to 5600rpm (EA82T). It may be able to keep power up in the higher rpm range on the EJ16. The NA EA81 and EA82's made even less horsepower than the 90 mentioned above.

Just make sure to keep it under 5psi and possibly intercooled. Take baby steps while cranking up the boost. It maybe uncharted territory but not impossible. And since it is only an EJ16, the curb weight of the car it is in is probably very small (1700-1900ish?). And extra 30-40hp would fit in nicely.

Its still the same body. The motor might be like 10lbs less? motor layout has very little to do with car lbs.

I understand! My apologies! I should have known since it is an 'EJ' series engine.

So...would this be you?

Someone mentioned on the I-club -->
http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114612

this --->"Still a lot of parts on the ej16 Engine are the same as a EJ20 Engine".

I do not know how accurate that statement is.

I think you may find this thread VERY useful. Take a look-->

Contact the owner at that link I provided. He may be able to help you on your quest. Here's more info from that thread:
"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this was fitted by the manufacturer in greece on brand new cars and sold with 3 years warranty, bit like a ppp for the 1.6lt. i am now doing a complete cdb 450+ transplant and no longer need this kit. my engine is being built by jps motorsports in milton keynes so i will be travelling to the uk in november in my van to collect it, so i will bring the kit with me. it consists of;

garrett turbo (can not see the model as it is still on the car)
fmic with all the plumbing
dump valve
ecu
complete exhaust (great sound)
genuine subaru turbo boost gauge

it gets to 150bhp which is a mega improvement on the ej16. i never ever had any problems with it. i want 1000 pounds for the lot and will bring it to your door step if you are within 150 miles radius of the milton keynes area.
i will remove the kit just before i come to england, so it is still up and running at 0.3bar. this is a bolt on modification you won't have to remove your engine or anything else."
