Default Resonators

I remember a thread around here about glasspacks, resonators, and stuff, but I don't remember the name of it.

Do resonators do anything for noise, as in reduce raspiness and noise?
Do they reduce the noise by a lot?

I want to get my custom exhaust with a megan racing n1 muffler.

I'm afraid it'll be raspy like mine now, which is raspy at high rpms and such, so would a resonator help?

I don't want the noise to reduced though.
