Default think I spun a bearing

UPDATE

I am willing to sell the car for 2k less if someone is interested in buying it as is obviously this is a great opportunity for someone to build a motor for the car and get it for a great price.

there are plenty of parts that have not been sold that Im willing to include for a discount.

Otherwise what the list shows in my FS thread is what you would get. Otherwise if in two weeks I get no interest in the car as is I will pull the motor and rebuild it.

ya, not exactly the best news, but ya rattling when reving and oil pressure is about 10psi at idle warmed up and thats down from 16psi or more from before.

looks like Ill be rebuilding the motor, bad news for me good news for an potential buyer. As I can either work with them on building something more (ie I can supply the cash of what a rebuild would cost towards something more) OR I can get it rebuilt so you'll have a fresh motor.

oh man this ****ing pisses me off royally.

oh and to confirm what else can I possibly check for just to make sure it's not like a loose exhaust part or something.

Im pretty sure, it's that classic noise and my oil pressure has been getting lower and lower at idle, by a psi here and there.

****ing brutal cause If I was keeping the car it would be an awesome excuse, but alas someone buying my car will get a very fresh shortblock.

Alex thats brutal. I have a spare shore block for a ej20 kicking around if needed... its all disassembled at the moment.

what kinda rattle is it? like a lower end knock? or just sound like something loose in the bottom end? i would check the oil pressure manually to make sure its not the sender messing up 1st.

Sucks. Happened to me a little over a year ago too.

Funny thing is, when people ask if I'm happy with my car, I always say I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Subaru. Then they ask if anything has gone wrong and I'm like.. well.. I replaced the engine. But that wouldn't stop me from owning another one

Probably not the best Subaru salesman.

oil sender is good it's a defi unit and the pressure has dropped over the past 2 days at idle, from 16psi to 11psi at idle full warm.

oil is a 5w30 Amsoil synth and it's got about 2k or so on it, was changed twice pretty quick as I had it in for awhile then installed the gauges and well changed it again, so the oil in the car for the past 4-5k has been done twice.

and ya it's a low rattle with oil pressure loss it's a rod bearing. Ill be draining the oil tonight to see but Im pretty sure it is.

As for your block kicking around, unless you wanted to trade once mine is out won't be worth it since Im not hard up for a car to use (camaro is coming out, least it's only the trans that needs attention on it )

yup, just gotta find a shop to pull the motor, I already know who can rebuild it.

unless someone wants to take the car for 2k less and that can go towards a nice built motor.

2K less is pretty optimisitc. you need to drop the price by the the 'market' cost of replacing the engine. Get quotes for driving the car in broken and picking it iup fixed from three or four shops and you'll have the market price.

I'm guessing it's more like 4K+

Ill pay the 4k and then sell the car running perfect, but Im not dropping the price of the car for the maximum dollar that CAN be spent to get it pulled and fixed. As I can get it done for less and I know more people that can do it for much less then myself.

thats like saying the price at a dealer is this and you should drop the price accordingly.

besides at that point I could part the whole car out and get more included for the motor as well.
