Default Version 8 STI swap into 05 WRX

I am going to be doing the swap in the next month and before I got down and dirty with it I wanted to touch base on here and see if anyone had any tips to make the swap easier. Any recommendations from guys who have experience doing the swap is welcome.

Right now the engine and the trans is connected and I would love to get it all in without taking the trans from the engine. Also, the half shafts and driveshaft are included along with the brakes and suspension. Its all going on.

Thanks for the Input!

I have been researching that issue here and it looks like the general consensus is that the only difference is the AVCS, everything else is plug and play, and the AVCS is like 8 wires or there is a kit out there I just have to remember where I previously saw it.

Yea i think ECS might be able to help you. I called Corey at ECS and he told me a lot of stuff i didnt know and gave me a hook up on a DBW adapter plate.

I think they have a harness kit or something like that.

I know all about it. What do you want to know? You'll probably want to use the "Spiider" controller. The factory DCCD won't work without STI ABS, a new G sensor and LOTS of wiring.

I have factory DCCD in my 03 WRX with swap, I switched out the entire wiring harness and ABS system to get it though.

Im stoked!!!I got everything delivered last week. I purchased it through JDM Tech out of Florida. If anyone is interested you can email David at info@jdmtechmotors.com. They were very helpful and extremely flexible! I think the biggest money savings was in the shipping. The only thing wrong with the setup is that the timing belt cover was busted when they recieved it. No problem though. Im just going to pull cover off of my 205 and slap it on that beast. Here are some pics!

Just curious how hard it was going to take to get up. I have a v8 207 along with trans and ecu...the rest is in the pics...since i have the ecu and trans for the car is there additional wiring there or is it plug and play? if that is plug and play then all i would need is the sti abs?

thanks

You have the body harness too? It's plug and play if you have the correct harnesses. I forgot you need the rear diff sensor too (or you need to fake it). You need the DCCD controller, the wiring for the DCCD controler, the STI ABS controller, the G sensor. The DCCD controller changed over the years too. The 05 controller won't work in an 06 for example.

If you get the Spiider controller, it's 4-5 wires. I don't think you can get real subaru DCCD to work.

That swap looks sweet.

Sounds like a headache! Im gonna look into the spiider controller. I saw mention of that on a thread just have to find it again. One more question. If I dont install it then its 65/35? I read that somewhere on here. And is there negative effects of not having it hooked up?
Thanks for the kudos, im freaking pumped...time is gonna kill me waiting for the cash to get a GT30r set up in that beast. Before that I want to do suspension though.

Wow, congrats! That is really clean. I am currently in the market for a JDM swap and will definitely be in touch with this company.

Jebus Christ man!!! I am sooooo freaking pumped for you man! I know how crappy your path has been with the subie, one problem after another! Now I can't wait to come back home, and im gonna need your help with mine.

By the way..What 30r are you going with? the .63 or .82? I think im going to go with the v.7 like we talked about, im also leaning more towards the 35r with the .82 hotside. A member on here Dug-e-Fresh had amazing results with a 35r on a 207.

Jebus is right Bro! Im as pumped as you are!!! And no doubt I will give you a hand with your v7! We are starting a revolution in Clarksville once people hear these beast run to 8500rmp...its gonna be fun as ****! As far as the turbo, as for now I think I am going with the .82 hotside. I am still doing my homework cause I have more than enough time to make that decision.

Well, I did some research today and out of the options that I found out there Spiider is the way to go. Generally sounds like a pretty simple install and the concept is fairly en-genius. Im still not 100% grasping the DCCD concept but there is still plenty of literature out there to read...so read I will.

AH Yes, and another Question... Obviously the JDM ECU is set for 101 octane, I talked to Clark here on NASIOC and in an email he said
"The best way to tune this is for you to buy a Tactrix cable. Then, You can pull the rom file out of the JDM ecu and send it to me. I will tune the rom and send it back. We can log until the car actualy runs correctly. This is $150."
I have no clue how to go about this and I am not all spun up on the computer side of the house! Also I will be doing the swap on memorial day weekend...hope I can get it done in three days!
