Default Need some help Located the VIN on my Engine and tranny

Hey guys. Some of you may know that I purchased a 2005 WRX two years ago, with a salvage rebuilt title. I went through Hell and back trying to get the car, and even more so trying to get the title. Long story short, after a long and hard court battle, I finally ended up with the car, and some money, BUT I have to go through the NYS salvage inspection within the next 3 months. Unfortunately, I am now trying to get paper work for all the parts on the car that have been replaced, but the original seller is no where to be found.

My biggest worry is that I am unable to easily see a VIN on my engine block, or transmission and I am unsure where to look. Im told that the one for the engine should be near the Drivers side TGV's, but after pulling my battery, and several other things, I have not been able to find it. Im also told that the transmission generally does not have a VIN on it. Does anyone here know where its supposed to be?

Thanks

Your not going to find a VIN etched or stamped anywhere on the motor.

Your best bet it checking the front of the timing covers, and the transmission bell housing for a sticker which sometimes will have the VIN on it.

Ok, so i took the Top mount off and there were some numbers, but it isnt a VIN. I think its the engine serial Number (not the EJ205XXXXX number). anyone else know Where the actual VIN is located on the engine? At this point, it really looks like there isnt supposed to be one.

^^ yeah, Ive found alot of stickers and other numbers, but none show the VIN. However, It really doesnt look like anything has been tampered with, since usually stolen motors would have all numbers etched off. I keep getting different stories from other people, some say there are etched numbers located somewhere on the engine, others say its not. Its getting dark out soon, so Id like to throw everything back on...

So far I found Four sets of numbers:

B667251 (Next to the Drivers side TGV)
14011ab373 (Next to the Drivers side TGV)
01400-0100 (Next to the Drivers side TGV)
9F01 (Next to the Drivers side TGV)

EJ205BW7BB-11313298 S910 (on a sticker on the Timing belt cover)

031260029395 (directly under the Intercooler on top of the engine.

which number that i found, is the actual serial number to the engine?

I tend to think that B667251 is the engine serial number, but I am not certain. What I do know is that for the Saab 9-2X (Saabaru), the unique engine serial number stored in the Saab vehicle information systems in 2005 was a 6 digit code.

I also know that the transmission code stored in the Saab processing systems in 2005 was also a 6 digit number. I can't tell you exactly what the actual stampings on the engine/transmission look like and they may have other leading or trailing characters, but the unique part of the data has 6 digits.

My motor does not have a VIN anywhere. I think most blocks from Subaru are like this anyways.

you dont have to tear apart anything... you just have to look where the pic shows you. the cylinder head doesnt reach that far. your prob not gonna see it till you remove the top mount, turbo and up pipe
