Default Early EJ20G Case Question

I have noticed on some 93-94 20g that the cases are sealed with a Red/Orange silicone. Whats does this signify? I am NOT talking about oil pans or cam covers, But the center cases themselves where the meet.

Doesn't mean anything other than they used a different rtv sealant.
