Did a quick search and wasn't able to find a thread for the shop. I figure that would be since it's a pretty new shop. Anyways, the shop is being run by Mr. Adan Quezada who seems to have quite a good reputation within the Southern California region as noted by these threads:

So I had caught wind of the clutch swap special he was running in the SCIC vendor classifieds sub-forum (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1706053) and had been needing it swapped out. I contacted Adan about it even though I was at the tail-end of the promotion and wouldn't be able to make it in within the prescribed time frame. He graciously extended the promotion to me and worked around my schedule to find an ideal time to perform the work. This was important since my car is my daily driver and I had to use it to commute to work M-F. I was able to drop the car off on a Friday evening and the work was completed by early Saturday evening. To top it off, he had cut me a deal on an uppipe install since I coupled it with the clutch swap. Adan is a very friendly and personable guy and had no problems addressing all my questions and concerns prior to the work being done.

If anyone in the Southern California (especially South Bay) area needs work , you should definitely consider AQ Motorsports.

Wanted to revive this thread from the dead to give my pre-review of AQ Motorsports.

I stopped in this morning after arranging to meet with Peter @ AQ after talking with him on the phone the night before.

I went in for a comprehensive consultation after compiling my list of parts and list of goals after many hours of research on the many helpful FAQs and threads on NASIOC.

I told Peter that I was looking for a spirited daily driver, one that would NEVER see the racetrack, NEVER see a dragstrip (don't want to grenade my 5MT), or do any dumb stop light clutch-dump races on public streets (for mostly the same reason as the dragstrip).

I gave Peter a budget and a range of "whp" numbers that I wanted to meet and he was outstanding in his advice and help. I asked him many specific questions and more than a few dumb ones and he was polite and courteous and talked me through the whole process.

So far I have to say AQ Motorsports, and to that extension Peter, is an outstanding shop like I've been hearing for years even in their Harman Motive days, and he helped me understand what I was looking for much better by the time I left than when I came in. By being honest and also offering to pay cash (a plus to ANY business ) , I got everything I wanted, got rid of some things I thought were cool but was advised as superfluous, and added somethings that I needed and also wanted and fell completely at the budget I was looking for with all labor and parts estimated. This is saying a lot, because from my experience with anything that costs a lot and is complex, the rule of thumb is planning for overrunning costs and not your "desired" budget, vs the "realistically what I can afford" budget vs "SNAFU" budget. I definitely fell comfortable on "desired" budget and I drove home with a big fat smile. Heck, I'm shocked that there wasn't a single hint of upselling during my visit, and I was practically begging for it

I will update this thread when I have everything installed in about 3-4 weeks, because there are certain custom parts that have a decent lead time, especially the Process West TMIC that I ordered through them.

To anyone reading this, I highly recommend checking out AQ Motorsports. It's even worth a visit to check out a lot of the cool parts they have access to but isn't listed on their website.

Alright, it's been a long time coming but I finally got everything done this week and took my car home tonight from AQ Motorsports.

To start off, I will first list off what exactly I got from AQ Motorsports for my 2011 WRX Sedan:

1)Kartboy short shifter with front and back bushings, Turn in Concept side to side shifter bushings and pivot bushings (technically part of the Group Buy on this board, but got it installed and paid through AQ)

2) Process West TMIC - This is what took 4 weeks to get

3) AQ/Harman Motive Downpipe w/hi-flow cat, EWG uppipe w/Tial 44mm EWG

4) Cusco Tranny and Engine mounts

5) Kartboy pitch stop mount and crank pully

6) Whiteline front and rear swaybars

7) Whiteline ALK, steering bushing, rear diff mount and subframe mount bushings

8) Grimmspeed port and polished manifold and hi-flow crosspipe with ceramic heat coating, Grimmspeed AOS and master brake cylinder

9) HOA/Prodrive 3-port boost control solenoid

10) Cobb AP w/protune by Church Automotive Tuning

I don't think I even need to say just how awesome the car is with all the above parts, if you know what each does then you know.

All items above were paid full in cash (almost all minus the labor cost in advance), as I had a specific budget to work with and AQ totally matched under that and gave me a great deal. I will not reveal here or either via PM what I paid for, as that is between me and Peter at AQ, out of respect for them. I went in there with cash in hand from the moment I walked in the door to prove that I was a qualified customer and not there to waste anyone's time, they reciprocated those sentiments exactly with the customer service and level of attention I was hoping for, and then some.

I can not express enough just how satisfied and happy I am with everyone over at AQ Motorsports. From those that I dealt with, Adan and Jonathan who worked on the parts, to Peter who gave me his full attention with the kind of professsional consultation that I was looking for, they run a great and tight ship. Adan (owner and head mechanic) even took my car himself to Church Auto Tuning down in Wilmington for me to save me from having to do or explain anything to the tuner, Shawn Church, and also mechanic Jonathan picked me up and took me there from a friend's house in Torrance, saving me the hassle. That is some Grade-A customer service, folks. By the way guys, Shawn Church of Church Tuning, who AQ uses exclusively, is absolutely fantastic, a class act, and just a great guy and extracted down to the hoof exactly how much power we were all aiming for. EDIT: BTW, made peak 311whp and 334lb/ft wtq @19lbs peak boost on the Dynapacks using crappier than hell Albertsons supermarket/gas station 91 octane. It's ridiculous fast.

What REALLY impressed me was that Adan and Peter both admitted to me at the time I got to my car for the dyno session (which was 4pm, end of the workday) that they still had a part or two not quite installed in time and they told me to come by afterhours when the tune was done to get everything squared away. This is nice of them, concering their shop closes at 5pm, and they were willing to finish the job so I wouldn't have to come back the next day.

But what was even more impressive, and downright made me a loyal customer of theirs for life tonight is what they did for me after. When all was done around 8pm, I thanked them and drove off to leave, and found that there was a bizarre/freak SNAFU in the steering/alignment from all the suspension/drivetrain stuff being swapped out, and somehow became loose within the 20-30 seconds of me leaving the place. The steering wheel was turned a good 2-3 inches to the right (this wasn't the case when I drove back from Church Tuning back to AQ, about a 10 min drive) and centering it made it steer left with the appropriate ratio of turning.

I immediately U-turned back to them to show them what was wrong to prove I had not tampered with anything, with the intent of returning tomorrow. After they test drove it themselves, to my surprise, Peter and Adan immediately went to work on it for the next 30-45mins to adjust everything below and made sure I drove home in a safe car.

My idea of a great business is not one that gets it right every time, but one that is willing to get it right every time when it goes wrong (and I'm not saying it was their fault, it never was, just **** happens in life). I must've left close to 9pm, keeping these guys there while they made sure I was happy. That's what satisfaction is for me, and that's what I think everyone here on NASIOC should read to know this is the kind of work these guys do.

To everyone in SoCal, I proudly proclaim that AQ Motorsports is my shop of choice and I recommend with the utmost regard that they are the finest shop around in the Subaru scene.

Let me bring this thread back to life.

First time going to AQ Motorsports today. Got a new Mishimoto radiator installed as well as a cusco turbo heat shield.

They had a competitive price for the Mishimoto, good price on labor, and they even installed the heat shield for free! Car was in and out of the shop within a few hours.

Will definitely be going back for future services and upgrades!

Thanks!

I'm glad that everyone has had good experiences with AQ and their service work. I had a different experience when it came to a walk in. My experience today is similar to how it was last year.

I stopped by today to pick up some Motul Synthetic Oil since they are one of the few South Bay shops that carry Motul (I think Renner Motorsports is the other shop that I know of). I happened to be in the area and thought that I'd peek in. I called them to verify that they had it in stock and verify that they hadn't moved again. They weren't particularly polite or enthusiastic on the phone.

I went in, asked for my oil, and the guy in the front picked up a jug and said here you go and placed it on a desk. He went to the guy in the back of the office and told him to take care of me. He was very straight to business. Asked if I had come there before, asked for my phone number, asked me if I was paying cash/credit, and told me to sign and said thank you. I walked back to the desk, picked up my oil, and walked out. They didn't do anything wrong, but they also didn't do anything particularly right.

It was definitely a different experience from how they were in the past. They used to initiate small talk, see how you're doing, what car you drove, what mods you've done, etc etc. It was nice to see that they push some effort into the customer service. There was a focus on the experience of going to a tuner shop. Now it just feels like I'm at Target. Check in and check out.

It's safe to say that I probably won't be going back to AQ anymore. I could always buy my oil and car parts a little cheaper online, but I always try to support the local shops. If I'm trying to support the local shops, yet they don't support the local customer, then I'm sorry. You will lose business on your walk-ins. It seems like it's simple Business 101. Strive for a good customer experience, and you will succeed.

Good luck to AQ and I hope that they turn things around. I'll subscribe to this thread and read reviews and see how they're doing from time to time.

Dear customer.
Although your post does not list anything specific that we did wrong (we were courteous and thanked you etc.) however we do not like it when a customer is unhappy with the service we provide.
One of our main goals at AQ Motorsports is to ensure that all our customers get the service they want and expect when visiting. We did not pick up any verbal clues or body language clues (you walked in without a smile and simple said "I am here for oil, I called") to give us indication you wished to talk about anything further about your vehicle or additional products you wished to purchase.
We do appreciate you supporting local shops and custom . I can honestly say that with your visit from our perspective you seemed to just want to purchase your product and be on your way; hence why we served you immediately, ran your credit card, thanked you and gave you a smile. Although you have said you will not visit AQ again (which we are sincerely so sorry to hear and will miss your repeated custom) should you change your mind and do visit us again, please do let us know your "needs" on that visit. Also, if you are as unhappy with your visit as you have stated, as long as the oil has not been opened, we would be sincerely happy to provide you with a full refund if you wish to return it.
Sincerely,
All the staff at AQ Motorsports

My over all experience has been nothing but the best... I've had a stroker motor built ther, oil changes, clutch install, other maintenance etc ... Each & every time its been nothin but a good positive experience... I've referred countless amounts of people to AQ Motorsports who can also vouch for Adan (Owner) & the boys... Nothing but stand up/good guys!

Needless to say Gorge .... I'm still lost as to where u recieved poor customer service... It seems like it was a straight transaction in purchasing Motul & that's all... Either way... A+++ for my expeitences w/ AQ Motorsports!!!

Keep up the GOOD works guys!!! I'll be back for a turbo install & Suspinsion bits!!!

Well i was shocked to see this, so i had to post. My experience with AQ has been outsanding i can say the best there is, and ive been to many shops and none have service like AQ does, from the moment you step in till the time you leave its nothing but great customer service. I wouldnt change AQ for no other shop i can truly say my car has only been touched by them ever since i purchased it and will keep it like that because of the exellent work they do from oil changes to whatever you need done to it. Adan and team have great knowledge when it comes to working on subies so like the guy above me said A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ AQ FTW.

I wanted to follow up this. AQ Motorsports gave me a call this afternoon and we clarified the situation. They had mistaken my body language as I was in a hurry. My body language coupled with their briefness was due to a few of them pushing for a deadline and apologized for not being able to spend additional time. I understand that the pressures of a deadline and at times, people cannot give everyone their full attention.

I'm glad that we were able to clear things up. Again, I still love AQ and I appreciate their professionalism in clearing up the situation. I wish you all the best.

I guess i want to put my review of the shop so far down.

A little bit about myself and what i had planned. Currently active duty who recently got back from being deployed in Iraq and had my car stored in a military storage facility. Right before i left i changed my oil and antifreeze and started fresh, also detailed my car ect right before drop off of the vehicle. While i was away i came across a built short block and ended up picking it up, along with a rotated 30r kit and frontmount. ( Car had been stock to this point)

Apon arrival back in the states in May i picked up my car and noticed some issues, rear wheel stud snapped off, fender guards missing, jack point on passenger side completely smashed and promptly notified the storage company of the issues i had at the time. well few months go by and i have enough money to do my built short block along with turbo install and proceed to stop in and see Adan ( he was storing the block i purchased from a friend on another forum). We end up talking about everything but cars, my deployment family ect and basically treats me like he had known me forever. I tell him what exactly i was planning on installing and asked him for advice, he proceeds to give me extremely sound advice ( heads ported polished along with tgv deletes ) and we proceed to set a date for my car to go under the knife.

I drop my car off on monday first week of June and a few days later i get a phonecall, Adan informs me that apperently the storage facility added tap water to my radiator and it looked like rusty water and he would suggest getting a new radiator. Also found out that the water pump was almost completely seized and the timing belt looked to have jumped which caused a few bent valves. He showed me pictures and showed me in person the damage that had occured and asked me what i wanted him to do. He has done things most shops i have dealt with would never have done for their customers and treats me like im a part of the family.

Alot of shops would have said whatever and just built the block using the damaged parts but AQ has gone above and beyond when it comes to customer service and the service they provide. I will be receiving my car hopefully tomorrow but i wanted to say to people considering a engine build in the SoCal area i highly suggest AQ.

I'm planning on going to AQ for a pre-purchase inspection on a car I'm looking to buy. Hopefully this bump allows some more AQ customers to post a review or remind me to post a review of my experiences.

Adan put my car together at the end of 2011. He wasn't a fan of the person I got my motor from and was worried it wouldn't work the way I wanted it to. Well it's been a few years now and 25,000 miles. She's still rock solid and running strong. I'm not working as much anymore so I'm able to wrench on all my cars myself but if I couldn't do my own work then I would, without a doubt, take my car to Adan to do the work. Adan even drove my car to me in Palmdale just so I could have it back on time. Bottom line......

Outstanding customer service!

Here's a list of what he did for me

257 shortblock w/205 heads
Studs, 100mm pistons, acl bearings, arp fasteners

750cc DW

Walbro 225

Vf39 (now vf48)

Sti Top mount

ACT clutch kit

AQ 3" turbo back and uppipe

Cobb AP with church tune

Just had AQ Motorsports do a break job and a oil change. Adan was pleasant as always, fast and got it done right. This is the only shop I will take my STI to.

Dude Adan is the man he is an awesome mechanic you won't be disappointed. He'll have some options for you if you have bad results with the compression test. Good luck.

Kinda late, but better late than never. Had AQ rebuild my motor in September of 2012 and my car has been running better than ever. Great pricing and the customer service is EXCELLENT! These guys are really top notch mechanics. Definitely coming back for all of my subie needs lol.
