Thumbs up STI hood scoop kit from AVSports

Just received my STI hood scoop kit - genuine GDB STI scoop, type RA undertray/scoop splitter and seal. All genuine parts, all look great, great price, great service.

It was $205 plus shipping ($7.50). I thought it was an incredible deal considering what I've seen just the scoop sold for.

NO FAIR NO FAIR! i WANT ONE!!! THANKS for letting us know where to get one, hopefully they will still have some more in stock. By the way, where are you going to get your scoop painted at? I hear that the WR Blue is really expensive to paint

But I think if we are crazy enough to spend over $200 on a hood scoop which will give little to no performance gain, what's another $100 bucks or so to get it painted?

Hey, no sweat Redleader - it did seem like someone was just fooling around!

To be honest - I have no idea how much it's going to cost to paint the scoop - I just dropped it off and told him to paint it. Really doesn't need much for prep 'work which is what costs the money. I'll let you know when I pick it up.

It cost me $55 to get it painted at the local Subaru dealer. AV Sports prices on STi stuff pretty much can't be beat. I paid about $250 for the same pieces about 3 months ago. I ended up selling the backing duct because it's made for the STi TMIC and doesn't seal against the ones we have. I didn't feel like getting the STi TMIC at the time.

Just picked up my scoop from my body shop - cost me $75. Still cost me less for the scoop & painting than some vendors charge for the scoop itself.

Yeah, I got one of those kits from them, too!!! Plus, they have it in stock!!! I can't say how much it cost to get painted, because I was having some insurance body work done at the same time.

does that splitter actually have the 'splitter' that directs half air to front of TMIC and half to back of it?
if so that is a damn good price and ill have to call ASAP!
thanks

I liked their website, I saw their rally car on speedvision, they are doing very well; they kick ass ! But i did not see any prices for their parts, just e-mail them or call em'. Hey, if you have to ask how much the 6-speed is you probably can't afford it(unless your comparing prices to rallispec or something) but it's going to be over $6,000 at least IIRC. Lots o' money..

Thumbs up got mine

been meaning to post for a few weeks now, finally got around to it. i got my hood scoop/splitter from wayne. it looks great! i had him paint it, and it actually matches my car's paint better than the factory scoop did! there was one small smudge/blemish on the front lip of the scoop, but it is not noticable at all, and i can live with it.

wayne was a pleasure to deal with, highly recommend them.

There's a picture of just the splitter in the 3rd post.

No direct link - the scoop kit isn't listed on the site - call or e-mail them for more info.

Default bottom line

I think that there is little doubt of improved looks with this kit, the real question is does it improve performance noticeably? is this kit simply cosmetic? will improvements only be evident with an upgraded TMIC?

thanks.
