Default GC Radiator In a GD?

Anyone know if the GD fans and mounting points would work with a GC radiator? Reason I ask because when one switches to a thicker core the top hose gets closer to the Alt pulley even after trimming it. The GC radiator hose doesn't exit/enter in the middle like the GD does.

Plus it looks alot cleaner!

Bumping for an answer. I've searched and found no conclusive answer. I'm looking to put a GC radiator in my 2002 WRX.

Are the brackets the only thing that will require modification?

Will my stock fans fit?

I know the upper hose is different...but what about the lower hose; can I use the stock lower hose?

You could if you wanted to. You'd need to drill new holes in the upper core support, trim the lower hose a bit, use the gc upper brackets, gc upper hose, overflow and fans. Your fan motors and blades would fit actually, but the fan housings are different.

Awesome, thanks so much for the info!

Would it be possible to modify my fan housings to fit the new rad? or is it totally necessary to get the GC housings?

I will probably be making my own upper brackets, so I'm not shy of a few modifications to the fan housings.

I'm still running a GC radiator with my GD into GC swap but have the GD motors and fans swapped into my fan housings like 69subaru360 describes. Fan housing mounting is different. I'm sure somebody could make it work with enough modification, but it was easier for me to just swap the motors since I had all the parts.

I have a fuidyne radiator in my GC with stock wrx fans. Trimmed the upper radiator hose and no clearance issues whatsoever.

Eby, This is on your old 94 L. It has treated me well! Still got the 99?

Nice, I was curious what happened to that chassis.

Now I have a 2000 L and did a full 04 STI swap.

Thats what I have. A fluidyne and fans meant for a GD. The only thing I did is used the GD upper mounts and drilled new holes in the core support to use them. It was also neccesary to trim the upper and lower radiator hoses to fit.

Will a bolt w/ a nut that's not welded on work?
