Default Automatic Transmission to Manual Swap.. easier if your swapping the engine?

I know a manual swap is a pain in the ass apparently

but I have been looking for awhile for a 2 door, Manual, AWD First Gen Impreza so I can swap in a EG33 Flat 6 engine in it

I found 2 perfect cars for the job one for $200 and one for $500, the $200 one wanted to get rid of the car before the weekend and my stupid check wouldnt show till monday... and the $500 one sold on sunday.. a day before I got my check

that was over a month ago and I havnt found another impreza in that specification that is resonably price

now I find one with the 2.5RS interior (which I actually perfer, specially the seats) from a 2001 swapped in a 95 with a 2.2 engine instead of a 1.8... but its an auto.. and he wants a fair price for it, I would be fine with driving around and having fun while I collect the parts for the swap, I would be swapping in a 6 speed transmission with DCCD anyway when I get the EG33 anyway

either way my question is, is the swap SUBSTANTIALLY easier if your already taking the engine out anyway?

and is it worth buying this one now or should I just wait for a reasonably priced Impreza within my exact specification?
