Default Plane etiquette

Hi I was just wondering what your guys/gurls view(s) on plane etiquette. What do you think about what video's and game you play is appropriate.

I was watching Fight Club and about half way through I was thinking maybe this wasn't the best choice for a 4 hour flight...

Just want your thoughts and opinions.

You have all the right to put your seat back. Honestly with the amount of room you can move back combined with the angle that the seat is at, it's not THAT big of a difference for the guy behind you. He still gets the same amount of leg room, just that the tv screen has to be angled a little higher. The only case where I think it woud be a nuisance for the person behind you was if they were bigger (fatter) and have their tray down.

With that being said, I'm like that "I am Canadian" commercial where I feel bad for moving my seat back so half the time I don't.

Load up your laptop with whatever you got so you never get bored, bring PSP, DS if you have one. Good head phones... Hope your seat has a power outlet.

With regards to leg room, that's why you fly business class

Anyways, 4 hrs isn't that long. 15+ hour flights are long.

Unfortunately work doesn't pay for business class upgrades. And work doesn't pay me enough to be able to afford those upgrades myself hahaha.

I agree though, the 4 hour flights are nothing. In fact I usually get on, put my stuff away, sleep before take off and wake up during the impact of the landing

I usually recline the seat just a little.

Now in terms of movies, they do show some pretty good movies that would be too much for a kid, but a kid shouldn't be flying alone anyways, so the parents should just not let them watch.

With Japan Airlines, everybody gets their own little screens and you can select which movie to watch, and there are always kids shows etc.

I just flew home. and the thing that pissed me off most were these fat people walking up and down the isles constantly. They would bump into me all the time.

And the guy behind me shook my chair so many times as he was getting up, but that I couldn't complain as he was an old feller and could barely stand up as it is.

4 hour flights are actually okay
anything over 12 is brutal

truenosan, having a fat guy bumping into you constantly is better than have a little kid trying to climb over your seat from behind and puke all over you lol

I have actually seen that before

other than that, like Arthor said.. a psp, or a DS, anything to keep you occupied
I'd bring instant noodles myself cuz I dont really think airplane food is food

ok I feel better already

If some kid puked on me... I would expect nothing but a first class ticket next time

I saw some kid puke when we were close to landing, he was a fricken walking volcano.

Watch whatever you want, well, maybe not pron. If somebody is offended tell them to stop looking at your laptop.

Good noise isolating headphones are the best thing for long flights, better than the noise cancelling ones.

My last vacation included a 21 hour flight each way which was brutal.... the connection time between flights made it even longer... business class made it a little more tolerable though

Don't most planes have individual screens now? I took a cheap flight to San Fransisco last year and it was enjoyable, plug your headphones into the entertainment thing, they had Daft Punk in the music selection and some pretty decent movies to choose from as well

So you flew around the world ?

The longest Flight I have ever seen, besides "The Voyager" is Newark to Singapore, Wich would last around 18 hours <- pretty sure that's the longest flight to date.
Maybe incliding said Layovers . . . But 21 Hours flights simply don't exist lol

As to the seat debate.
Your seats recline for a reason. . . I am sure someone was paid big money to design it in a way that wouldn't obstuct the passenger behind you.
RECLINE YOUR DAMN SEAT IF YOU WANT TO ! !

Chances are the seat in front of you is reclined at the same time you are comtemplating reclining your own

Ps. . Not everyone want't to spend $10,000 on a plane ticket just so they can get free booze and a few extra inches of foot room
But getting to board to the plane first . .well that totally makes it worth it !

/Rant
As you can tell, working Easter Monday has got my blood flowing

My last long work flight, I had downloaded the entire Californication series.
It has a bit of nudity in it, but since its on TV who cares.
The guy next to me on the plane was leaning to watch the whole time too.
He had headphones I let him plug in too.

You just have to take it easy on the plane, I constanly tell myself "I am getting paid to sit here, I am getting paid to sit here"

But what I dont like are the people that want to trade seats. Asking if I will trade my aisle or window for the middle seat. Not only am I 6'4" and around 260, but I often pay extra to avoid the middle seat.

And I don't like the people who want to chat the entire 4 hour flights. Its cool if you are from the place we are landing, and can recommend a nice restaurant or whatever.
But please I don't want the 4 hour version of auntie Ruth's 60th birthday party

Not even going to Bother . . . .

It's not a 21 Hour flight. .

It's considered 21 Hours in the Air. . But I'm not even going to get into it at this point.

Economy class is a cattle car so I expect getting irritated from sone people. Recling is ok, but I hate it when people don't put it back up during meal-time.

I hate flying and don't care about etiquette. I am not as tall as Jeff54 but getting there at 6'3". Just sitting in a regular seat my knees hit the seat in front of me so if they put it back I am screwed. I ALWAYS try to get at minimum an aisle seat. Better than that is a bulkhead and best is emergency exit seat as I get unlimited legspace.

The second reason I hate flying is because I get motion sick, easily. So I need to pop a suppository before any flight (too much info, I know).

Third reason I hate flying is I can't sleep.

Only reason I like flying is when I am able to use airmiles and get business class tickets.

be nice to the guy with the unhappy dog in a crate under the seat

also, when you have a connection, your flights don't all travel in the same direction, adding flight time to your trip. when I go to costa rica in 3 weeks, I have a 3hr flight that actually takes me less than 30 minutes closer to my final destination before I get on my international flight. if I had decided to take a regional flight to get to phoenix instead of driving, it would add another hour. that would be 9 hours to fly to central america from the southern US, not including layover time.
