How new of a laptop you need?
I got a 3 year old Dell with 450 megahertz and pentuim II, do you know if it would work?

You can use virtually any PC capable of running Windows. The software has been tested with Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 2000, using both Intel and Athlon processors. In comparison to most application that you would run on a Windows PC, these products consume far less memory and processing power - they have been designed to run as efficiently as possible, so that you can log information as fast as possible.

Minimum recommended specification is Pentium PC with 32MB RAM and 20MB free disk space. You will require a free serial port and a free parallel port. If your serial port is not the standard 9-pin variety, then you will also need a 25->9-way adaptor. If you have do not have a serial port, but do have USB, you will need a USB to serial adaptor cable for your laptop.

Theoretically anyone MY99 or higher should be able to use it. I'll have to check my licensing options when I pull the laptop out later on this morning.

It's very impressive as simply a monitoring and data lgging device. Even if it can't tune anything I'd buy one. I probably will soon.

You probably get one of these and mount it in the dash and get some realtime stuff as well as having a full fledged computer in your dash. Which can't be all bad. OQO website

Or one of these. Capuccino and hook up an LCD screen. That way you can mount it anywhere and hook up the screen separate.

As some of you may know, MRT Performance in Australia has become the exclusive distributor of ECUTEK products for that country (http://www.ecutek.com.au/contact.htm). I presume (I could be wrong) this means that ECUTEK in G.B. won't ship any DeltaDash units to AU addresses but will, instead, recommend that Aussies contact their local distributor (i.e. MRT Performance). If one looks at MRT Performance's price sheet for the DeltaDash (http://www.ecutek.com.au/prices.htm), one finds that it's impossible to buy a DeltaDash in Australia for less than AU$850~US$455

It's no secret, now, that the DeltaDash is orders of magnitude better than any other single tuning tool available to an individual WRX owner. I suspect that, as you read this, there is an intense bidding war in progress among vendors, tuners, i-Club, and God knows who else, to see who will become the exclusive distributor of ECUTEK products in the United States (or, perhaps, North America).

I would not hold my breath for a "Group Buy" discount below the current $300 charged by ECUTEK. I am suggesting (without any hard evidence) that, in the near future, you will not be permitted to buy the DeltaDash directly from ECUTEK if you have a U.S. address. Instead, you will be directed to the exclusive U.S. distributor (whomever that becomes) and will have to pay whatever that distributor decides the market will bear.

These are just my personal observations. YMMV.

Jon - anyone that has exclusive distributors usually won't allow the price to fall below a certain point... I still don't know why a software distributor would do that ... Bose does it because their "name" is better than their "product" so the moment that people think that Bose aren't expensive, they will think they aren't as nice.

I have to agree with Jon. Once there is a US distributor, the price will either remain the same or more than likely INCREASE. With that said...
Get the Group Buy started!!!

Jon you setup the OBDII software GB. Get it together man and set this up, too.
