Default Odd Shudder/ thunk on acceleration from stop

I have a 2002 wrx wagon. Lately from a stop when accelerating there is a light shudder upon light acceleration, and a shudder and thunk thunk feeling from where the 2 driveshafts are mated in the rear.

I work at a quick lube shop, and went under the car. I watched the car drive out of the bay, and noticed the driveshaft moved in an slight circular motion while spinning. What could cause this, and does it have anything to do with the shudder/ thunk?

PS Its a 4eat trans.

It could very well be the clutch packs inside the 4eat. This is the equivalent of a center diff in a manual transmission. When these go out, it makes a binding/shutter just as you described.

So the wobbling driveshaft has nothing to do with the shudder/clunk?

Someone mentioned a carrier bearing "bolt" coming loose?
Any location? Pic? Anything on this? They experienced the same shudder.
